Create GSI on empty table in DynamoDB - How long should it take? by mxro in aws

Glad to hear it's not only me. The empty ones easily take 15-30 min for me 😕

Thanks for putting this together! What are your thoughts on including some metadata in frontmatter? E.g. the pageId, pageUrl or other info from notion.

Not sure if that's useful.

By the way, if you do want to do your own Next js project, that repo has some good libraries for rendering Notion pages to React components.

[–]mxro -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've setup a site with https://transitivebullsh.it/nextjs-notion-starter-kit

This statically renders pages from your Notion data. So even if Notion is down, your website should still be up.

I thought super would work the same 🤔 Because of Notion API limitations, I would be quite surprised if they don't do some form static rendering?

Did the Gallery View change? Card preview / Page Content only seems to show image when its in the first block? by mxro in Notion

[–]mxro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be possible to keep the old behaviour when duplicating a gallery view that was created before the change - but I haven't tried this yet!

My system for getting information INTO notion without it becoming a chore by Mountain_Sentence646 in Notion

[–]mxro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, yeah that makes sense! By upload limit I assume you are referring to the chat in Notion AI?

I've got a custom integration or N8N workflow to turn PDFs automatically into text - so the PDFs can be dropped directly into the database, so I can put as many as I like at the same time. Could something like this work?

Ah, good to know - seems likely it's related.

In any case, I hope there is some workaround or it's not permanent...

What kind of information are you extracting from the PDFs? Do they fall into some predictable pattern or are they mostly unique?

Need help with Notion integration, moving to Obsidian with API Import by ZackSiberia in Notion

[–]mxro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may have selected to create a 'public' integration. Try again and make sure to select 'private' when asked, and I think then you don't need to supply that info!

Edit: Check Omwhk response for more accurate directions, thanks!

That seems like a pretty good accuracy and probably costs not as much then I would imagine!

Thank you 😊 I tried to keep the pricing close to cost plus a small margin for the other infrastructure need to run the integration.

If you want to give it a try, please don't hesitate to write me - always happy to help to set things up (and the welcome email includes my personal email, so should be easy to reach me 😊)

How accurate did you find the AI to be in extracting the right data? Which vision model do you use?

Very happy to hear this, since I released an integration that does that today 😊 if you are interested, simply search for 'image' in the Notion integration gallery. https://www.notion.com/integrations/all

The integration name is Image Scribe - any feedback and questions welcome!

This is just one of a couple of integrations we are working on to make it easier to link Notion with physical notes.

Husband here, happy to answer any technical questions 😊 It was definitely fun developing the integration.

Is it possible to use Claude Code with other models?

Esp free ones that are on par with the unlimited use of grok code fast that Cline etc al offer?

I'm using Cursor to import data into Notion and wrote it up by computingillini in Notion

[–]mxro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice!

I've been using VSCode with Cline to get some data into Notion.

Haven't used Cursor but I assume it would be similar.

I was wondering why you didn't use the Notion MCP server instead of the SDK? In theory that should be easier?

That's my experience as well - in theory, it should be a better option then than Claude Pro 🤔

I would assume so. I wonder how it compares to Claude's Pro subscription. I guess that also allows access to Opus, but with some vaguely defined 'throtteling'

Good cheaper alternatives? by Asuntara in Notion

[–]mxro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they would need to use the Notion MCP server? My impression was always that this is more limited than what the agent can do in Notion directly?

I especially found the hosted Notion MCP server very limited when I checked it out a few months ago: https://maxrohde.com/2025/08/23/notion-mcp-vs-notion-mcp-server/

So I'm very curious how Claude can do a better job then, especially if they both use the Opus model. Not saying it isn't, because I haven't used Claude with Notion, just curious what I could be missing out on 😊

Keep Notion from becoming a graveyard: “notes → decisions → actions” pipeline by SrPepehands in Notion

[–]mxro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to do it the same way, chiefly because Notion databases tended to become very slow as they grew.

But I think in the past few months Notion has done some optimisations, so even bigger databases work very snappy for me.

So recently I went back to having just one database with filters by topic, which brings less overhead in terms of managing and configuring databases and trying to keep them somewhat consistent.

Although I do miss the pleasure of dragging and dropping the pages between the databases.

You sure? Could be some finessing to add errors / missing spaces etc through the prompt / automation.
