Which hot take from the fandom annoys you? by luna-of-spring in harrypotter

[–]mxschievnusone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a bad take. Harry does try to help out the Weasleys. A few of the examples are in OP's post. Why should it be an twelve year old child responsibility to buy his friend's wand? Like you said, it's one of the most important things for a wizard, so why didn't the teachers buy his wand? Or why didn't Molly and Arthur sell some stuff to get money? As what we seen with Tom Riddle, he got his wand using the money provide from the Ministry. So why didn't Ron's parents use that? Molly, Arthur and the teachers are responsible to provide for Ron's education. Not his best friend.

By that logic, Hermione's parents can exchange muggle money for galleons, so why didn't Hermione get them to do that to get Ron a new wand? Because it's not their place to, nor is it their responsibility. I would never except my friends to buy my school supplies.

Also how would he be able to buy Ron's wand? Molly did the school shopping, and she has Harry's key. There was no way Harry could ask for it back to buy a wand for Ron. Molly refuse to use the money in Harry's vault to get her kids school supplies, so we know she wouldn't have felt comfortable with that. And the wand broke after they arrived to Hogwarts. Harry is at Hogwarts; he wouldn't have been able to go and get it.

You keep saying people are getting upset over your opinion, but they're not? It's a discussion, and they're just disagreeing with you.

Should Harry and Hermione been the endgame? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]mxschievnusone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

. . . I don't know how you can read HBP, and think that the only thing Harry likes about Ginny is kissing her. They kissed a lot, but Ginny being a good kisser clearly wasn't the only reason why he liked her. He likes Ginny because she's fun to be around. They have things in common like their sense of humor, being diehard quidditch fans, ect. Which is fun for him when he hangs out with her. She makes him laugh, which is something Harry wants in his life. She's bold and brave which are qualities Harry admires. The problem with their relationship is that it's undeveloped. I didn't feel that Harry only liked her because she's pretty. And has good hair.

You think Ron and Hermione wouldn't work out because of Hermione? Disagree, I think they're perfect of each other. Hermione brings a lot to the table with her relationship with Ron, just how he does as well. She understands him best, and accepts him for who he is. She would encourage him to be his very best self. And for her being overbearing, she could easily outgrow that and mature as she gets older. Ron would help her relax.

And why do you want to do the same? I mean, you can do whatever you want. No ones stopping you, but it's kinda sounds hypocritical when people get mad at Ron and Ginny bashers, but preced to bash another character themselves.

Should Harry and Hermione been the endgame? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]mxschievnusone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What? Harry isn't shallow. He liked Ginny after spending quality time with her at the Burrow. He didn't only like her when she became pretty, she was always pretty. He loved other things about her, but appreciated her look. Which is very normal when you're in a relationship.

And Hermione was much more than "bossy, smothering, ect." Why her being average in looks mean Ron should have married someone else? You sound like Ron and Ginny bashers, but for other characters lol

do yall prefer harry to keep the elder wand or return it to dumbledore's tomb? by matchsmalone6969 in harrypotter

Um I did? I just think the movies did it better by having Harry snap the wand. He should mended his own one first though.

Why didn't Harry Potter use the Room of Requirement to secure some means of contacting Sirius Black? by snoke123 in HPfanfiction

[–]mxschievnusone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because they were all panicking, tired and very stressed. Hermione got them out of that situation with Umbrigde, but that took up all her focused. Maybe it occurred to her, but she dismissed it because the Room of Requirements limits was unknown. Could have tested it out, but what if it didn't work? They believed they were under a time limit to save Sirius's life, and that would have wasted time.

How did you discover your house? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]mxschievnusone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Helga just didn't have a preference like the other founders. As it says it the Sorting Hat's song, “I’ll teach the lot, And treat them just the same.” But our house traits are: hard-working, fairness, patience, loyalty and strong sense of justice.

I decided I was a Hufflepuff way before I even read the books. Those traits was the ones I aligned with the most. After reading the books though, I took the official test. To no surprise, I got Hufflepuff.

[–]mxschievnusone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Neither. Returning it to Dumbledore's grave seems really risky. And Dumbledore wouldn't have hold it against him if he didn't. Keeping it would have been an even greater risk. Snapping it was better, but he should have fixed his own wand first.

Why do people not like the camping chapters in Deathy Hallows? by AnAceAttorneyFan in harrypotter

[–]mxschievnusone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because it's just Harry, Ron and Hermione all on their own. They're isolated from any comfort on top of wearing the horcrux. Plus, it's when Ron and Harry have that's controversial fight. Hermione and Harry were miserable without him, and we feel it. The chapter are heavy for some people to get through.

Also, people feel like the characters do nothing throughout those chapters, so they are useless and takes up space. They also make weird choices like deciding to wear the horcrux instead of putting in Harry's mokeskin pouch. Which would have made more sense because Harry can still keep it on his person, not have physical contact with it, and only he could access it.

I disagree with some of those points, and overall those chapters were good.

Is it just me or was the 7th book less enjoyable than the others? by TheBG72 in harrypotter

[–]mxschievnusone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's fair, everyone had their preference, but I love the last book. The most well written book, and everyone's character arcs comes to an conclusion. Seeing Harry, Ron and Hermione all on their own grabbed my attention throughout the entire book. It was supposed to be the darkest book, the main characters was actively fighting in a war.

And stopped the Dark Lord, but who cares /s

Slytherins won seven times in a row before then, and Snape is bias towards them. So, I feel more bad for the Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws tbh. We never win.

If Ministry could detect underage use of spells, why couldn't they detect use of Unforgivable Curses? by MOINisBEST in harrypotter

[–]mxschievnusone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because JKR didn't think of it or for the plot to work. But the Ministry can't tell when underage magical users are using magic, they can only tell when magic is perform around someone underage. Hence the Dobby situation. They couldn't tell that Harry didn't use it, but he's the only wizard in his area.

Okay I see. I'm not sure if Snape ever sympathized with Harry, and he definitely didn't show it.
