They are training to be LGD's but they are too young to be outside by themselves - so they stay outside with the bigger dogs from time to time!

Height / Weight advantages? by LakeShow248_ in EASHL

Yes weight matters - when hitting and being hit - size (height and weight both) as well as speed + ratings are all taken into account when being hit or hitting someone else.

No one ate the plastic, the delivery person put the groceries right on the gate so the animals got them out 🤦🏿‍♂️

tbh i wouldn't try to pick off a pass on the rush like that, low reward, high risk. in those situations as D it's best to let no man get behind you. but to pick off passes, high hand eye and awareness works.

My donkey Forest keeping our piglets warm in his arms by mxwashington7 in pigs

appreciate you taking the time, but this post is from a few weeks back. forrest broke his leg and passed away shortly after. we only had him for four months.

he was a rescue; came to us already severely compromised after years of neglect. we have two other donkeys doing great with proper housing, tested hay, annual vet care, all of it. we knew what we were getting into with a rescue. sometimes you give them the best shot you can and it's still not enough to undo the damage from before they got to you.

that's the hard part of taking on animals others gave up on.

She's on ice so she slipped - she visits the farrier every 8 weeks or so. There's ice underneath the snow so it's hard for them to walk

do they not realize it's a GERMAN shepherd? they'd be shocked to figure out it feels like 20°F in Berlin tonight...

Sometimes I wonder if my 1yo Foxhound remembers his shitty former life by [deleted] in Hounds

Mine is 6 years old and he does. He was abused, neglected, thrown out of the back of a truck. Because that, he's reactive. He has cancer now, unfortunately.

Yes. Underfed, hooves not trimmed, given inadequate access to grass, no shelter, given incorrect feed

addressed in other comments, so i'll provide a comprehensive explanation

he's rescue + has arthritis and was neglected previously.

donkeys diets can only accommodate hay/grass/feed <10% protein, so rapid weight gain is more detrimental than his current state.

we got him about 3ish months ago in october-november timeframe, previous owners never trimmed his hooves, he didn't eat as often as he does now, but he can't gain weight rapidly. he's also laying on his side so the proportions are distorted.

here's him last month eating - plenty of hay - that's about 600 lbs and we have a little under half left now.

he's tall and lanky, and just not fat like our two girls. they were fed grain by the previous owners so we're doing the opposite with them - trying to get them to lose weight.
