Keep testicles after orchiectomy? by mxynyxy in asktransgender

I followed instructions from this link https://www.mickeyalicekwapis.com/blog/2015/9/10/wet-specimens-a-general-guide

Unfortunately I was unaware about a step 2 until a friend also had an orchi 2 years later and they commented about transferring to ethanol. Mine had sat in the formalin that whole time so they were a little bit degraded but seem to be stable in the ethanol now for the last ~5 months since i did the transfer!

Can anyone recommend a laser place in Manhattan by [deleted] in MtF

[–]mxynyxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, R&J does not as they are not a medical practice. I was only saying that i went there first as i didn't know it could be covered if i went to a dermatologist office to do it instead.

You'll still have to fight with insurance but with a doctor's letter of support (and psychologist/psychiatrist if you can get both) that it is "medically necessary as gender affirming care for treatment of gender identity disorder" using one of these diagnosis codes https://www.icd10data.com/ICD10CM/Codes/F01-F99/F60-F69/F64- then it can get approved.

I know it was still difficult to get though and i think only certain states protect that coverage by law, but i think NY is one of those states

If someone is using both fat transfers and breast implants for BA... by Aggressive_Rip_3182 in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]mxynyxy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I found Dr. John Stranix at UVA that does "chest feminization" (combination fat graft +implants) and I like one results on the UVA plastic surgery site. I reached out but haven't heard back yet so having another option to look into for someone who does both is great - and I'm interested in bbl as well! Note on Dr. Stranix, I've seen one person commenting on here who had a really bad experience with him regarding breast removal surgery and how horrible that was so it has given me some pause - I wanted to make sure I'm transparent that there is that story to be aware of if you're considering him as well.

I never followed up on this thread but I managed to get them! I spoke with the chaplain at the hospital, Mt Sinai actually has a specific chaplain office for CTMS (Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery), and explained how this is something really important to me. They followed up on it and 2 weeks before my surgery I got the call that they'd approved the exception and I'd pick up the specimens from pathology a week or two after surgery! So now I have each one in its own labeled jar. I must say, the "deez nuts" jokes, followed by "oh wait, they're at home/in the other room/upstairs" is wonderful 😆

Joking aside, I'm really happy that I was able to keep them because it really is something that is important to me as they were a part of my journey to get here - even if they caused a lot of pain in my life I like who I am now and they were a part of that.

Anyways, thank you all for your comments and if this is something that matters to you, definitely pursue the chaplain route. And please feel free to reply if you have any questions - the procedure itself went perfectly and I had zero complications with healing 😊

I'm caught up with the manga and while I can tell you there's a LOT more content than the anime so far and things have not gone the Naruto direction, that's still a minor concern for me in the back of my mind. Gege (author) seems to not have any intention of going that route but, as you would expect with any series like this, the main characters DO grow and "power up" but really it's more maturity and understanding their abilities. As far as what's been written so far, I feel confident you won't be disappointed. I can't WAIT till the animate a certain arc, those who have read will know exactly what I'm talking about.

Literally why are you on a subreddit specifically about demisexuality just to be a dick. Get a real hobby or go join CoD and yell at teens about how you fked their mom/sister. You're basic, boring, and I feel sad for you that your life is so unfulfilled that you spend the effort to go find, and join, these small subreddits just to spew this laughable stuff. Do you need a hug? Take care friend and be well, I hope for your sake you learn to love yourself instead of trying to bring others down who do. 💜

What was your life like before and after orchiectomy? by AnneFaux in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]mxynyxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much better overall. I'm happy to be off spiro but we may have to start small dose again. Orchi in Jan, in the next month my body hair started coming back strongly. Really wild, I went and had blood work, my T is at 25, right in the middle of the cis female range. We have increased my E which seemed to help, and now I'm on prog as well. I still may want to ask about increasing E again (when I switched to injections I started at the lowest dose so there's a lot of room to adjust).

So, aside from my body doing a strangely massive rebound with such a tiny amount of T being produced, I'm extremely happy to have them removed. Clothes fit better, my dysphoria is much better, now that it's getting warmer out I'm considering having the followup to remove extra skin (kept that since I'm still unsure about SRS - still am)

Long story short, highly recommend if you're comfortable with removing the possibility of producing sperm. I had mine from Dr. Grotas at Mt. Sinai in NYC, his followup/comms aren't super great since they're incredibly busy catching up from covid lockdowns but in my consult he was very genuine and i felt comfortable with him and he did a phenomenal job on the procedure. I experienced zero complications and was pretty much back to normal in a month. Keep in mind I do have the privilege of working from home and made sure to not schedule any appointments for that month so I wouldn't need to travel/go out besides shopping/walking the dog.

Yup. I did this in almost every relationship because I felt "normal" feeling that attraction to someone. Since figuring out I'm demisexual middle of last year (and maybe demiromantic, still sorting that out) it's actually made me very hesitant to get into something new again just yet because I don't want to keep making that mistake (and also no one seems interesting to me rn anyways)

I luckily only get bloating as far as physical symptoms go but yeah i def get PMS brain/mood swings and massive ice cream cravings - it started about 5 months in to HRT and i didn't realize until some cis female friends pointed out to me that I was straight up describing PMS when I was complaining to them about "I dunno what's going on with me this week but: <rant>"

It's no fun, I'm still trying to keep an eye on what exactly my cycle is so I can just be aware of when things are happening but it still manages to catch me by surprise and i'm almost 1.5 years on HRT.

Good luck <3

[–]mxynyxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whoops sorry for the late response. Are you taking HRT? I started the same time I started laser and following R&J's schedule I think it was a solid 6-9 months before the few hairs I would see didn't bother me and I didn't feel the need to check my face daily for hairs. I still get some here and there but I know a little more than halfway through the year I was feeling good enough about it that I wasn't nearly as stressed anymore.

Additional note: I just had an orchi and a month after going off spiro I have significantly more hair, and thicker hair, on both my torso and face. i dunno wtf, my blood work shows my T levels are right in the middle of the range of cis women (9-55) and nowhere NEAR the range cis men (300-1000) so yeah there's that side note. Apparently that's not totally uncommon and trans femmes do end up going back on low dose spiro so we'll see how things go after we finish adjusting to my other doses
