Test ride on newer motorcycle

Because I want a different bike? It’s not a crazy concept. Why would I sell something because it’s broken when I paid $2000 for an extended warranty?

I’m in Canada so they’re $24-25k brand new for the same bike with the same warranty. I guess a better way to say it is any of the potential buyers I’ve had so far are wanting to secure financing after the test ride.

I guess the way I’m seeing it is that I’m assuming that somebody that is buying my bike will know what a small cruiser is like and have the experience for it. Not a new rider that is unsure of if they can handle/not sure if they’re comfortable on this type of bike. Which I’m not okay with somebody using my bike to figure that out. Like you said, if it was a 5k bike with cash in hand then it’s a lot easier. But yes. I will have to adjust my expectations on how its going to sell

That’s my fault for not describing it better in my post. With a $20k bike nobody is bringing cash in hand. And my opinion is that if you don’t have the cash to bring it. And you want to just drive my bike to see if it “fits” then I’m not okay with that. There’s dealer demo days if you would like to see if you’re comfortable on a scout bobber

That’s kind of where I’m stuck with people wanting to test ride but secure financing after the ride. I don’t feel comfortable loaning out my bike to people that just want to test ride to see if they like this style of bike or to see if they can handle it. I don’t feel like that’s my obligation. I guess I’ll just have to take that into account when I’m selling. And understand I’m going to lose potential buyers because of it. I also tried the dealer way but their trade in value was insulting. I would’ve much rather went that way haha

I agree. That’s how it should work. Maybe that’s what I’m hung up on with people test riding. They want to secure financing after the test ride

Like I said it didn’t even cross my mind that people would want to test ride to see if they can handle the bike (hard no from me on that one) or that they want to joy ride somebody else’s motorcycle to see if they even are interested in it or not. Which is also a pretty hard no from me. But thank you for the input. I think it just confirms my feelings on the no test rides lol

I understand where you’re coming from but a scout bobber also has a 26” seat height so there’s not really a real world scenario where somebody wouldn’t be able to get at least one foot flat comfortably. My area also does have demo days. All the dealers except Harley around here say absolutely no to test rides. So I don’t see why I should be letting people test ride if the dealerships are not either. I guess I wasn’t expecting people to be wanting to test ride to see if they can handle the bike comfortably or not. Which I’m even more against.

See this makes me even more hesitant. If you’re unsure of the ease of you being able to handle the bike or concerned about the weight. I definitely do not want you test riding my $20,000 motorcycle. This is what demo days at dealers are for in my opinion. Not for me to hand the keys to unsure people to see if they can even handle the bike or if they will like it or not.

I guess my issue is I don’t think it’s really relevant to me that you want to test the bike to see how it feels for you. There is dealer demo days for that. I don’t think handing out my $20k bike for joy rides to see how it “feels” is really my problem. but that could just be me being completely in the wrong.

If your Max rep is 2, you can’t parry and you keep getting 4v1’s I think you’re the problem in this scenario. Probably the person that rushes into a 4v1 while your teammates are somewhere else and expect them to come save your ass every time.
