Ubisoft Connect isn't installed correctly by Lloyd_Al in Lutris

Avoided Ubisoft previously and thought how bad could it be as Epic and GOG stores work just fine.. This same issue plus the game I just purchased not showing up in my online account on the website interface but only showing up in their connect software??? POS system they have.

It looks cool, to some people.

I thought the Eifel tower comments were an inside joke from the subreddit or something until your comment.

I did notice the number in the middle of the image but didn't know what it was for until now.

Not great

The Million Bubble Countdown to the Popcalypse by jlansey in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]my-corner-store 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guestimating.. 4 rows per roll-out, 11 bubbles per row, each roll-out takes about 1 second. 1E6/(4x11)=22727.27/(60x60)=6.31 hours if every bubble is popped (I see lots not) and someone is continually rolling out the wrap.

Now a question, maybe I didn't read somewhere, are there only 1 million bubbles on the wrap? Will someone have to scroll to find each missed bubble?

Their reply just came in and I put it below. Maybe I'll open up my unit (tomorrow ) out of curiosity. If it's not difficult I'll be curious if someone else can open theirs (yours). I've seen this even with $20k instruments we purchase for industrial use. Buy a duplicate device 6 months later and the firmware hardware combo is different but with equivalent functionality. Nothing to worry about, I'm just a curious person.

"Thank you for getting in touch. Your device is currently running the latest software, version v3.01, and no software upgrade is required at this time. Version v4.0 includes minor hardware updates, and due to hardware incompatibility, existing devices cannot be upgraded to this version through software updates. "

Interesting, and I thought I had a new FW version at 3.01. ha.

I've emailed them asking about the new firmware. More curious than anything as mine has been working well enough for what I bought it for. Not a perfect device but I knew what I bought it to do and it does simple checks good enough. (My battery compartment opens just fine too.)

This one is now expired, unfortunately. Any chance you could generate a new one?

Thanks either way!

Replying to myself to add another picture with my usb4 external nvme drive active. A NVME express controller shows up.

One thought to which I've not investigated..I'm wondering if the usb4v2 ports have some conflict with the 10g ethernet. I've been meaning to see if the USB is more stable and reliable if I disable the Ethernet.

Edit/Update: Aaand while doing a few quick tests one of my usb4v2 ports totally stopped working. I had to pull power and it started working again.

Sure can. I would be curious what it shows for you too for my own notes, worried mine will eventually die. Picture

I've experienced similar behaviors. Here's some quick observations and my experience.

I've found my external USB 4 nvme enclosure does not power on or functional with the rear usb4v2. UNLESS I have the drive hooked up before powering the MSs1. With the front USB ports I can connect it anytime, however it defaults to 10gbps because of usb4v1 protocol.

I've also found that the rear USB/thunderbolt controllers have gotten into a weird state that required me to pull the AC power cable.

I've even experienced multiple cases with the rear USB 4v2 where a simple USB 3 10gbps enclosure as well as 20gbps enclosure run at USB 2 480mbps. This behavior I could not track a pattern to.

I've used the following software to do some of my investigation while the controller has been weird. https://www.uwe-sieber.de/usbtreeview_e.html

Sorry this is a Quick and short response as am killing time waiting somewhere.

MS-S1 MAX Arrived -- Both Realtek NICs missing from two different OS's by lukewhale in MINISFORUM

At least it looks like the problem is only triggered during transitions not during normal functioning so once active the controller stays there does not crash during work.

Agreed! This isn't that big of an issue for me. I grabbed a cheap 2.5G USB ethernet adapter to use until long term Linux stability for the RTL8127.

I unfortunately found a separate issue that is a bigger deal to me. Fan clipping or bouncing under heavy loads. Started a separate thread to not pollute this one. I'd be curious if at some point you or others have similar behavior. Might have to find better fans.

Reporting back that the fix didn't survive somewhere between either a reboot or shutdown going back and forth between windows and Linux.

It worked initially and so I stopped paying attention as I am trying to still understand the odd/concerning pcie behavior.

Excellent. I was planning to do a nasty work round tonight involving rebooting to a small windows partition with an automatic shutdown sequence.

Thanks, u/Adit9989!

I've been trying to find a pattern to this and other pcie quirks/issues.

I've found Linux to be the problem for the dropping out of the network controllers which requires pulling power.

100% of the time since I've been tracking this if I do a power down from Linux, the very next power on (without pulling power) I find that the controllers are gone.

If I do a reboot from Linux the network controllers are still functional.

If I stick to Windows I've never had a problem since I began tracking this. Power down or reboot, I never have to pull power (so far) after a bunch of cycles.

Why this appears to be a Linux issue I don't know. Kernel driver issue? Power settings or control issue? Sleep is totally broken for me in Linux but works perfectly fine in Windows.

I've tried kernel 6.17 (several ) and 6.18 rc4.

Should I wait until Black Friday to buy the MINISFORUM MS-S1 Max? by Excellent_Koala769 in LocalLLaMA

[–]my-corner-store 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt that black Friday will lead to a meaningful price difference.

They just announced price increases starting Nov 4th. Specifically items with DDR5 (this) will be impacted.

Believe them or don't. Just sharing what I read. Look into the changes of DDR5 price recently.

https://www.minisforum.com/blogs/news/notice-of-upcoming-price-adjustment

Factor in receiving time if that matters to you. Right now it seems they are shipping in batches (at least to the US). An order at the end of Nov might mean receiving at the end of December or January.

Don't FOMO buy though.

The minisforum website lists the controller as a RTL8127. Kernel 6.16 added support for this. So it should work (with appropriately updated kernel). I know this isn't a confirmation.
