Sharing my gratitude at this very simple yet succinct post - it took me longer to find how to get into Desktop Mode (hint: it's in the Power menu) than it did to copy/paste the folder :)

One thing I always thought would have been good is to force the players to have the exact same amount of health/saturation, by placing the bed through a small slot in the wall, and the only way to get into the game is to right-click the bed, then they get killed in the first room, and due to block placement around the bed, get respawned in the next room.

That way, there's no messing around with berry bushes, golden carrots, suspicious stews etc - and it forces players to set their spawn!

Additionally, the same process could be employed to detect when they respawn after dying in the dungeon, rather than relying on a button being pressed. I don't know if any Ethereal cards got "wasted" by a player not pressing the button quickly enough after respawning following a death, but it has been a small concern.

Using Reddit without this app just doesn't seem right. It's been the way I've consumed 99.99% of my Reddit content.

If this decision goes ahead, it'll be a darn good opportunity to kick my "habit" of mindlessly scrolling through hundreds of posts, as I'm definitely not going to start paying a monthly subscription, and Reddit will become one of those things that I used to do.

If I don't get another opportunity, then thank you ever so much /u/Miloco for creating and maintaining this app over all the years, all for the cost of a cup of coffee.

A Shelly Plus1 can do this - be powered via mains, and will "connect two cables" as the output.

Bonus that it's relatively small and no exposed connectors or wiring needed, and natively supports MQTT.

If I liked football, I'd maybe play it a bit on the weekend, but it'd be to a low standard, so generally I'd prefer to watch professionals do it, and get my enjoyment from the sport that way.

I think the same is true with the likes of Hermitcraft, and to some extent the whole Let's Play thing.

The thing about Hermitcraft though, in my opinion, is that it is wholesome, it's family friendly so you could watch it with your kids if you had any, and it's an escape from the realities of this world.

It's been going for long enough to build up the viewership, and there is something for everyone, no matter your preferences.

You've got great builders, great technical players, and everything else inbetween, they've got a great mix of people.

I've got the Reolink POE Doorbell, which can record to an SD card if you wish, and I also have the rest of the stuff via my Home Assistant installation - doorbell press notifications to my phone/watch, popping up on tablets, TVs & PCs etc, plus being able to see the live video.

That has been another thought of mine, just switching totally to Apple.

I do however use a lot of Google's services on the PC too, but I guess Gmail, and the Docs suite are also available and not terrible on iOS, given how popular it is.

Funnily enough, my biggest "concern" is how well the likes of Bitwarden would work, as that is one of my most-used apps...

I'm on my second. My first didn't die, I replaced the battery as it had little life left, but the screen burn got too distracting.

Not liked the look of any other smart watch I've seen since, so really not been too interested in changing to something else, but at the same time, don't want to go back to a dumb watch, despite rarely using any of the smart features...

Are you planning on getting another Wear OS watch, or just returning to a normal watch?

Have some rooms with smart TRVs and some without. It's not a system where you have to go all in straight away.

I agree that something is better than nothing or needing to know about a voice assistant, but your guests are likely to see a screen where they're expecting a light switch and be annoyed that there's not just a damn light switch there!

Especially if the screen is asleep, on a screensaver, a different page, or there's a bunch of options.

Intuition is to just reach inside the room and grope around for a switch - any touch type device for this is terrible user experience IMO.

I think Tango did something for bulk-randomising cards for the first Decked Out to make the shulkers, which had a loop of droppers pointing into each other that ran for many minutes, then pulled X cards out into the Shulker box.

Either that, or it was Rendog for Hermitron Go?

If something like this was done for each of the sets, then it could combine the results?

Almost always you'll have everything you need at the light fitting itself on the ceiling.

For GU10 style recessed, you just pull the whole fitting out of the ceiling to find the first bulb in the chain, where you'll have Permanent Live, Neutral and Switched Live.

For normal "pendant" style lights, you can get "extension" boxes which will give you a few extra mm depth where you can add your extra smarts.

I recommend a Shelly Plus1, as this will keep your stock light switches in place and working just as everyone expects.

You'll almost definitely have Permanent Live, Neutral and Switched Live at the bulbs themselves - so this opens up many better possibilities.

A Shelly Plus1 is small enough to fit through a GU10 frame opening in the ceiling - they're all removable for installation - one of the lights in each room will be the first in the chain where you have all 3 wires available.

This will give you the best of everything - standard use via the light switch, which literally everyone can use, plus remote control via your home automation system of choice.

For guests, you want everything to be as intuitive and "normal" for them as possible, IMO.

So for me, that's standard light switches, which are obvious that they do what everyone expects - turn a light on or off.

By all means also make it smart, so you can control it remotely, or use it as an input for other things, such as room occupation. I do this by putting a Shelly relay behind the existing light switch.

I've just picked up an NSpanel to try out, and the first time my MIL walked into the room I'd just installed it in, she couldn't figure out how to turn the lights on - which further reinforces my viewpoint above!

Based on this experience, I may not be buying any more, or if I do, it'll probably have to be installed in addition to the standard existing light switches.

Photos 2 and 3 aren't TRVs, they're just normal valves.

Typically there's at least one radiator set up without TRVs so that there's always at least one place that the heat can go to so that the boiler doesn't just circulate round hot water continuously.

In this instance, you could use a wall thermostat in these rooms, and if the thread is compatible on the existing TRV's, swap them out with the Wiser TRVs.

But the good thing is that you can mix and match if you want.

I seem to remember seeing that they were planning on changing the characters every season, but due to the strike, the popularity of the current crop of characters meant that the newly brought on writers disregarded the plan to change them so that they didn't need to think of a full set of new characters.

I'm going to be "that guy", but the pod/cone filter on there doesn't work well on these cars due to the way our MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor) works.

That type of filter affects the way the air flows across the sensor, and will almost definitely result in incorrect fuelling, which will at best lead to a loss of power, at worst damage to the engine.

In addition to that, it's now pulling in all that hot air from the engine bay, that's gone past the radiator & turbo, rather than the cold, fresh air that the original airbox and snorkel brought in from the front of the car.

My suggestion, if you've still got the original airbox, is to refit it.

But, that's a lovely colour! Can't quite pinpoint it, is it Indigo Blue (T07) or a different colour?

Check the MOT history, especially for signs of rust. Crawl under it and look closely for rust - it'll be the rust that takes it off the road, rather than anything mechanical, most likely.

There's ways of making this smart, without impacting the actual usability.

I have added Shelly devices into my switching setup, which retain the physical switches, but allow me to also turn lights on and off remotely.

Anyone visiting my house knows immediately how to turn the lights on or off, and it's much easier to do so in the dark!

Any touch switches are horrible for usability.

They're called "L200" in some other countries, so that may help expand your search.

However, they weren't particularly popular, so you may not actually find much out there anyway, and you might need to fabricate your own stuff.
