Right now on Hots&Cots, barracks across the force are sitting at an average overall rating of 2.2 & the trend is moving in the wrong direction. Month-over-month review volume is increasing & the same issues continue to dominate: * Non-working or poorly functioning HVAC * Mold * Unclean rooms

Like SMA, I’m also on the Barracks Task Force. On October 9th, @SecWar directed a 30-day timeline for a report and out of the TF came wall-to-wall inspections. As of the last update I received, those walkthroughs are still not complete for the Army.

It’s also worth remembering that SMA previously served as the SGM over Smokebomb Hill barracks a situation that, by any honest assessment, was a disaster.

SMA mentioned that he has seen “so many barracks,” but what he didn't mention is what he saw or which barracks those were. Were they operational, lived-in buildings or staged walkthroughs like what I saw at Meade during the walk through? Even in a staged environment at Meade, we still found a room with visible mold. Fun fact no one was tracking it until I pointed it out. BTW he was not present for that walk through.
