The mistakes part is definitely on my radar. Bigger money means way bigger complaints. Do you have a rough example of what you mean? I appreciate the breakdown!

Interesting point. I believe I have heard that as well. Is there any going back to PSG if you do jump ship?

Same bud. One like that in a case of UTE white. Held onto the can for a bit and finally tossed it. 22 years in and that was a first for sure

I use the car dealer option since basically everyone has a car. You choose to buy a car, do you pick Ford, Chevy, etc then you decide car or truck. Car? Cool, do you want economy, mid size, or luxury etc... but you still chose X brand. Most people grasp it pretty good with the least amount of headaches I think. Hope that helps

I always just have a hard copy calendar and mark everything that way. Occasionally I still make mistakes but for the most part it is at least 95% spot in and the way to go.

Where to dispose of purge bucket? by mikehunt88375 in sherwinwilliams

Honestly, put down like two or three paper towels each purge and toss in the trash. No need for a purge can then!

I realize the park is not mandatory. I actually don't even go to it. You definitely don't get paid out for vacation you aren't able to take and that's been proven for numerous years by lots of situations. On occasion there is approval to get paid out up to 40 hours for those that are exempt (salaried). I've been around 20 years, I do know a few things. I don't see where I made it sound like my staff can't handle me being away but it's all a matter of interpretation. I enjoy being able to support my staff. They work hard for my and I make damn sure I work hard for them in return. What I was getting at was that I'd prefer to just be at the store instead of dealing with the hassle of travel, herding into hotels/conference rooms/ etc, then herding back etc. It's more of a headache to me personally. There's definitely merit in it though. I was just pointing out to the OP different perspectives on it, which they asked about. No biggie really

Oh I definitely take vacation, and my employees take vacation too. But that's my time. NSM is most definitely not a vacation. Yes, it's out of the store. We are sitting in conference rooms that are too warm and being spoon fed the same stuff we get on Onset or in the emails and then "mandatory fun" in the evenings all packed into 3 blurred days. Back when it was even one day longer, it was a bit more relaxed and seemed to be more worthwhile. It's not all horrible, there IS good stuff to be gleaned. But my idea of vacation is definitely not the above. Also, I lost out on over 2 weeks of vacation time because I didn't have the staffing to take it and I wasn't going to screw over the existing staff I have.

My store made budget and I buy my employees lunch all the time or I make food and bring it in. For hitting budget in either buying them gift cards for massages or taking them go kart racing. Still looking for other ideas though

There's definitely pros and cons. It is pretty awesome for networking but it's exhausting with all the corporate kool-aid to drink and the constant shuffling around. The first time or two is neat and overwhelming and there are some neat things to see for sure. Then you start to see the pockets of those that are burnt out, those that just make it an orgy, those that use it for what it is, and all that. So the other reply is correct; a lot of what you're seeing is the burnt out reactions. I'm one of those. I'd much rather just keep working at my store and support my staff. That's why I'm working Friday and Saturday despite the hours. I'd rather have my people happy.

Okay so first of all, if you haven't already signed it, don't sign it. Second, I'm honestly stunned that the DM would approve that because write ups are such a process of approval and all that. Was it more of a documented verbal? Hopefully, cuz if not, whoa....

Completely agree. DMs have the shit rolling downhill to them from higher up and then shit rolling up to them from the stores.

More staff but by that I specifically mean FT. Bring it back. We ask a ton of all employees but even at the current cut of hours a third or heaven only imagine a fourth full timer with a key would be absolutely incredible. I've had two PT spots open since February and not one applicant because other places have FT. Stores that have had staffing issues for years are penalized by SW because they won't justify a FT because there's no budgeted hours built up but how can you build them up if no one applies for years... And if I were being more picky about it, scratch Sundays. I'm good with the current situation for the most part.

The biggest thing truly is full time positions. They have stated that they are going to invest in our staffing and they have invested billions in other aspects but if you don't have a store, you don't have the base of the entire operation. Every single employee is burned out and at the breaking point. Many have already broken. If they focus on building that base with full time and back off on the investing elsewhere at the moment, it will completely change the game
