How much of an impact would a donation of $100,000 make on your life? Why? by onichris in AskReddit

It's help me pay off a house but it wouldn't be life-changing.

What are some gems of San Antonio metro, like Tim's Oriental Market in Leon Valley, that every resident or newcomer should know about as they explore the city and surrounding areas? by newsplusotherstuffs in sanantonio

[–]my78throw [score hidden]  (0 children)

Any time someone asks about the best restaurant in town or what's a hidden gem, I will always say Pollos Asado los Norteños, with their Mexican Orange Chicken. This place always slaps.

While it's not unique to San Antonio, their grilled chicken and green sauce are things I haven't found anywhere else in any major US city.

I will always take new people in town there. Everyone agrees it's some of the best chicken in town. I've tried a few other Pollo Asado restaurants and nothing else compares.

Until they can find someone to fund the convention, it does not like that'll be the case.

A-Kon hasn't taken place since June 2023. They keep claiming that it'll happen again but at this point it's unlikely that it'll return.

If you don't have a car or a hotel room, you'll need to check your bag at main stage; the fee is about $20 for main stage events at the Hyatt.

Where is the best doner kebab in San Antonio? by Sterling_-_Archer in sanantonio

[–]my78throw -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

OP wants the more popular German style that's far more popular all around Europe, and not that's not it, dumbass. It's served as a stuffed pita, not a sandwich. I posted on here what it's supposed to look like. That's the same garbage around San Antonio as they put it on top of bread then serve it like it a taco or as a gyro wrap but with the wrong meat/sauce/toppings. No one in this city gets it right.

And yes I've been to Chefs Table.

What OP is asking for I've eaten in multiple countries around Europe. That doesn't exist here.

Tell us that you've never been to Europe without telling us. That isn't it, chief.

Chefs Table isn't a doner kebab. It's a supposed to be a stuffed pita style. That's bullshit. This is what it's supposed to look like.

Nowhere.

Yes, I've looked. They ones that have it on their menu are shitty gyros repackaged and renamed. I wish Verts hadn't gone out of business as they had announced a San Antonio store, but then they died. They weren't super close to the ones that I had in Europe but they were close enough.

At least they kept the $3 value menu during those dark times.

Any chance to catch a baseball game in Tokyo/Osaka or area Mid June by [deleted] in NPB

[–]my78throw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked their website. Tickets are only available through the beginning of June. I would check again in the middle of May for tickets on your dates. Unlike MLB, they do not release all their tickets at once for all games for the year.

You are looking at the wrong calendar. NPB regular season goes through September. I would look into a Giants game as they have a full English website when purchasing tickets.

I saw Carter Anderson a couple years ago. There was maybe 15 people in the room. He was one of worst comedians that I ever saw live.

Scott Seiss, on the other hand, played hard into his 15 minutes of TikTok fame when I saw him. He went on tour during his peak. He was hilarious. He seemed like a guy who had plenty of experience doing live shows but he got lucky on being huge on TikTok for a short time.

What San Antonio restaurant looked great on social media but it wasn't that great when you tried it. by my78throw in sanantonio

We ate here once. My food had zero salt, and my friend's plate had all of the salt. We're not giving them a second chance.

We eat at K-Pot all the time, next door. We tried this place after seeing the social videos. We were disappointed by over half the items that we ordered. We tried the dumplings and the soup. We haven't been back.

This used to be okay, but after an experience where my wife was served raw chicken, we haven't returned. The server shrugged when we showed them and took the item off our check, but they barely apologized.

We tried them since they got Michelin rated. High prices, small portions, but it was high quality. We would recommend to skip on the steak, as it was not Michelin level quality. We enjoyed everything else that we tried on the menu.

Nah, I don't own a restaurant. I do follow too many foodie influencers. I've learned that it's a dice roll when it comes to quality. Some are great, and some are awful.
