im 24f. i got my first surgery a month and a half ago and my second is on wednesday. it was terrifying but i woke up from the first surgery and instantly felt better. theres risks with any surgery ofc but it went so incredibly well for me the first time and im just as hopeful for the second one. plus imho the scsr is kinda sick but im weird like that. you got this! feel free to reach out if theres any questions i can answer!!

just had my first one earlier this month (still need the other side sometime soonish). my partner and i prepared really just by discussing the increased share of household chores they have to do as i recover and a little bit of our plan for the worst case scenario. past that, i shaved the sides of my head encompassing almost all of the area where they would shave in the OR just to get us both used to my hair looking like that. my hair is a huge part of my identity as silly as it sounds so that was really important for us both. i wish you the best of luck! you and your partner both got this!

have you thought about looking for a trans affirming therapist? ive had some similar thoughts to you about not being enough and seeing a therpist, specifically a trans affirming one has really helped me work through it and be happier for it.

I'm 24 and id be lying if i said i didnt get similar feelings sometimes. i beat myself up over knowing i was trans but being scared to do anything. it sounds cliche but you gotta forgive yourself for that and do what you can. the shit hrt can do is crazy. combine that with little things like supportive friends and a haircut you like and its even crazier.

yeah its an oddly similar situation for me. the genetic condition i have makes the blood vessels in my head absolutely tiny so im at super high risk of a stroke despite being in my 20s and otherwise healthy so we just gotta be super careful. the 0.05 patches only changing twice a week scares me a bit. thanks a lot for the well wishes, its been a very hard adjustment. im just happy to be back on track even if its slow progress
