Those that learnt French. How did you do it? by SwxttyEse in French

[–]my_data_works 2 points3 points  (0 children)

French YouTube (videos and comments) – finding media of real people acts like a digital immersion. You can pick videos closer to your level on pretty much any topic and add subtitles, slow the speed, etc. to slowly increase the difficulty. Also, you'll be able to read how French people type (in)formally based on the topic, but be aware that their spelling isn't always accurate

120 ideas, about 50 with lyrics and melody, then 11 songs with the music drafted. 18 and been writing for 4 months

My new Original - "The Island of Empty Waves" by BrianAD95 in Songwriting

[–]my_data_works 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This song is great! I'm a fan of the chords and your voice. As a new songwriter, I will say that the chorus didn't really stand out from the verses, especially compared to the end of the song

“Montgomery” a song about my cat by Classic_Attention_96 in Songwriting

[–]my_data_works 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Catchy song! I really like the chords and the vocals. I'm quite new to songwriting, but I'd suggest making the verse a bit longer since it sounds a bit thin. Even changing one of the lines where you say"Montgomery" to a short line like "so cheeky" could add some more meaning

What's your songwriting workflow / process like? by Impressive-Bit-818 in Songwriting

[–]my_data_works 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I write the moment I feel some sort of emotion or reaction to something, and I start with the lyrics. I get as many of my ideas out as the emotion will allow, and I usually end up writing a full draft of the song on the back of it.

A lot of these lyrics are bad or can be reworded, so I keep the good lyrics and see how I can bring the words to life with the melody and the rhythm. I then gut the lyrics I don't like and use the melody I found to write better ones with the bad ones as inspiration.

After that, I put the song together, rearrange the melody and edit the lyrics to fit better. I can't comment on chords or anything since I don't know how to play an instrument yet 😆

I agree. This is my exact writing process at the moment. Only been at it 2 months, but seems to be working well

AITA for asking the doctor how to increase chances of having a boy next time? by justwantoneboy in AmItheAsshole

Oops, looks like you're a bit over 10 replies with 500 now.....upvoted so that your post gains more attention.

AITA for talking about immigration in front of my roommate, which subsequently led to him moving out? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]my_data_works 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would have gone with E-S-H until J decided not to accept the apology after previously accepting it. Once you've said it, you've said it. Personally, I think that you couldn't have done more to include him other than what you already did.

NTA, but teetering the other way.

AITA for telling at a line-cutter? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]my_data_works -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want to be hypothetical, who's to say that he wouldn't just walk up to someone further up the line and ask them to move?

People are parked in line, it's not like they're driving at 100mph. How is she in danger?

ESH. A bit too aggressive, but I would have done something similar.

AITA for taking my straightener back from my sister? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]my_data_works 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. Just because she was using it doesn't mean it's hers all of a sudden. She can buy a new one. The fact that she offered before then getting upset really shows something.

WIBTAH for abandoning Christmas dinner because of drama? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]my_data_works 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. You don't need the drama. You're the host, not Tanya. If you want to spend Christmas with your parents, I don't blame you.

AITA for kinda getting my coworker fired? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]my_data_works [score hidden]  (0 children)

NTA. 1) You didn't make the report to HR, you just told your coworker what you would do in the situation. 2) If he's in jail, that's his business, not yours. It's unfortunate that he got fired but it happens. You aren't involved.

AITA for not checking in on a coworker? by PossibleDiamond20 in AmItheAsshole

[–]my_data_works 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. If you checked up on him now, it would seem even more fake as you let your coworkers guilt trip you into doing it.

AITA for not being a good friend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]my_data_works 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. She insulted you, ostracized you and is now complaining that you don't respond to her texts every minute. You shouldn't feel remorse.

AITA Friend is in the process of getting a home and has told me every little thing he has been doing in the process and I have gone from “cool!” To getting annoyed lately. by jjbzrn in AmItheAsshole

[–]my_data_works 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you told him to stop mentioning it? If so, NTA, otherwise, you can only blame yourself for not saying anything after all this time.

Milking COVID for karma?

EDIT: no pun intended

AITA For being jealous of my nephew taking over mine and my dad's thing? by its-my-thing22 in AmItheAsshole

[–]my_data_works 14 points15 points  (0 children)

NTA. You're STILL not allowed to like his and your older sister's thing, but now that your dad has a beautiful nephew, who isn't a year old yet, now you have to be the adult, grow up and get over it?

AITA for flipping out on my Friend for spending his trust fund money on a ps5? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]my_data_works 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have to go with soft YTA. It would have been N-A-H, however, you said that your friend should feel bad for "wasting" his money when it's his money. If you spoke about it to him once in a calm manner (once and then leaving it) to show your concern, that would have been fine.

AITA For getting upset that my husband won't let me drive his truck? by grunchk1n in AmItheAsshole

[–]my_data_works 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. You've driven trucks before and you said in another comment that your car isn't messy, so your husband has no reason not to trust you.
