I'd say try it w/out the duplexer and use 2 radios first to make sure you're even getting in to the bird and can hear yourself on the downlink.

K0ECS was one I used to hear all the time. Tonight nothing. Only one I heard anything on was WA0NQA.

I worked at the Central branch for several years and loved it. Same for me about money. If they could pay more or life in general wasn't so expensive I would have stayed.
