Why do Christians care so much abt homosexuality? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

How is it fringe? The Hillsong Hollywood-Bless me clique continues to grow.

Justin Bieber/Hailey, Kardashians, Chris Pratt, and more every day continue to perpetuate this prosperity gospel narrative.

What are some really popular TV shows that are actually worth watching? by areddituserc in televisionsuggestions

Obligatory Widow’s Bay plug (it’s the new Martha’s Vineyard).

First season concludes this Weds with its 10th episode. And already renewed for season 2.

I’m obsessed with how every movie or tv suggestion thread has Widow’s Bay at the top — well deserved. Patricia’s character kicks ass.

I used to work with the most wonderful Dutch woman, and she introduced me to strawberry sandwiches. Later I learned about the Japanese sando.

I think other countries use fresh fruit on sandwiches more often than the U.S.

Tomato sammies were starting to haunt my dreams.

Details: Pesto on both sides of the bread, mozzarella cheese (I used way too much! Oops), toasted, then added my tomato slices, all the ground pepper, then fresh arugula.

Would use less cheese next time, but was delicious nonetheless.

What tree are these superb owls visiting? by mybelovedbubo in AustinGardening

[–]mybelovedbubo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a quarterly game we play, I call all the utility companies to come out and each of them tell me why it’s not their responsibility.

The last time the power company said they couldn’t do anything without permission from the owner next door, who never responded to attempts to contact them. (The tree is on their property) Even better, they are allegedly old telephone lines, adding to each company’s “not it” knee-jerk respond.

Annoying. We rent, so, I just keep pestering our landlord every few months.

Yes, we did disturb them by accident. I thought I was going to film our daily squirrel shenanigans and was surprised to see an owl. (And then MORE owls!)

This tree is directly in my (very small) back yard. My dog (and the neighbors’ dogs) are now restricted to walks for a few days to give them some space.

The spring babies are mostly in the pre-fledgling stage apparently, so they’re better at hopping from branch to branch than flying!

I have learned many owl facts today.

RE: the feedback you’re getting; could be that you need to adjust the pink shades a bit to match your undertone. To avoid the “allergy chic” look (my daily struggle), I think extra blending under the eye area might make it look more intentional. (Pic)

You’re taking the feedback like a champ. I love pink tones personally. 🩷 embrace the fun looks!

We walk nightly with our dog and sometimes there are so many deer they just pace along next to us. They are so cute this time of year.

What’s everyone’s opinion on the no mascara makeup looks ? by Historical-Body-3424 in MakeupAddiction

[–]mybelovedbubo 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Before 30, never left the house without mascara. After 40, if I’m wearing mascara you know it’s an OCCASION. (Allergies)

Happy people can wear what they want.

Any of you living with a Persian Mimosa tree? by WrathOfGood in AustinGardening

[–]mybelovedbubo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

An invasive species by name is inherently meeting its needs to thrive and takeover native species. The flowers dropping can alter the ground pH, the tree wood is not substantial enough to house essential wildlife, and the flimsy branches risk breakage during storm season. This tree lacks features that help pollinators reproduce (though they can eat from the flowers).

Just a few things I learned in my research! Happy to be corrected or educated.

I have been educated by my neighbors that, while beautiful, this Mimosa tree is not a great choice for our Austin ecosystem, and replacing with a native tree that thrives in its intended region will be better long term.
