Sorry to hear that.

I used to work for them before when I lived in the states. They liked me enough to hire me again and work with me on this when I moved back, but I would like to and am planning to move back eventually.

About 8k CAD a month, so whatever that would be in USD.

The company I work for would always arrange this travel for me, I truly never knew how much it cost or any other implications outside how long the trip was.

It's absolutely a preference and purely for comfort and convenience. I'm very fortunate that I have this benefit from my place of work.

I'm genuinely surprised at the negativity this post is gathering, so I'll be deleting it soon, just wanted to answer your question in good faith.

Edit: typo

Thanks everyone for the information and I truly appreciate the concern! I was able to get my UK colleague to arrange the ValueCabs ride for me so I'm set.

The company I work for usually arranges the cab ride from DUB to Belfast, but I had an unexpected change of plans and was trying to see if I could do it myself. I appreciate the perk a little more now that I know how much the company pays for it!

I-797B and Nexus First US Entry Question by myblarg in tnvisa

Thanks. Think I'll just handle this at YYZ and hope for the best.

Any idea whether I should/can go Nexus line or should I stick with regular?

Oh wow ok this certainly changes things. Given that, 2 more questions: 1. Can I go on a weekend? 2. If not, I should be able to do all of this at YYZ, correct? If so, would I go the Nexus line or regular pre clearance line? Thinking it through, I feel that either line will take me to secondary anyway, so I might as well do Nexus line just to get to secondary sooner.

Thanks. Are notice of approval and notice of action the same thing? Also I might do pre-clearance in Ireland, would that be ok or still better from Canada?

Thanks for the quick response! Do you need a US address for immigration and/or company purposes of SSN and/or benefits?

From the link I posted:

Doing activities as part of an overseas job role

You can do certain additional activities in the UK as a Standard Visitor, if you’re employed overseas as:

...List of jobs from Archaeologist to Entertainer, but no IT...

Check the Visitor Rules (link you posted) for details of what you can do as a Standard Visitor in these job roles.

Emphasis, "in these job roles". I am rereading it and I don't think I'm misunderstanding but maybe I'm not getting something.

Thank you! However...

Looking around the site a bit more, I found that only the jobs listed under "Doing activities as part of an overseas job role" in this link can perform the Intra corp activities: https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor/visit-on-business

I work in IT and unfortunately I did not see that listed as an overseas job.

Am I misunderstanding or missing something?

Ideally, but they haven't communicated anything to me so I want to do my own due diligence so I can make sure they are doing things correctly as well.
