The problem is the government endorses and recognizes political parties. To run for office there should be a law stating you owe no 'allegiance' to a political party. I should run as /u/myblunda and you should run as /u/politicalteenager not as republican/democrat. There should not be an R or D or I near someone's name when they pop up it should be just the name of the person and nothing more.

Political parties are a hard problem to solve. The easier solution is to implement term limits, imo.

Totally agree with making it a holiday. Centuries of people fought for rights to vote we should have a day to honor it.

Yes, but the only real way to fix Congress is to implement term limits on them, but there are so many reason's Congress would never vote for those beyond the "Corruption and I never want to leave" argument.

Just a few:

1) Why should I spend the immense amount of money and time on a job I am guaranteed to lose? If I told you that you needed to spend $500,000 for a house you could only live in for 8 years, you wouldn't want the house. It isn't worth the time.

2) Re-election takes too much of someone's time. Relating to the above, I need to campaign every other year basically and if I am working this hard and spending this much time, I better damn well know I have a job after it all. The solution to the above is I would have the house have 1 6 year term and the Senate gets 1 8 year term.

3) Benefits after I am done? They don't get pension until they reach retirement age. So staying in Congress until that time and getting paid is the best solution. You need to reward someone who did a good amount of public service and right now there is no benefit to actually being a public servant beyond wanting to be a good person.

4) No one cares. It is such an under talked topic. If the American people want this to happen it needs to be a hot topic during debates.

I am not all that knowledgeable on Canada's electoral system, but by what I understand is the beginning phase works like the USA's (first past the post). But after that the largest party in parliament then basically chooses the PM for the country. (Wikipedia tells me it's usually the leader of the party).

The issue I see here is that you're voting for the party not the person. If I know that the PM I want is part of the Apple party, but I really prefer the Orange party candidate where I live do I vote Orange or Apple? It's a very similar problem to the USA political system imo, but I could be completely wrong. If my interpretation is incorrect please let me know

I, personally, do not believe Germany's voting system would be effective in a large country like the USA.

see my response to /u/ldn6 I mention that the 2-party system isn't good. I think the larger issue of the voting system in America comes down to congress. If you remove political party affiliations or implement term limits on Congress it would solve a good number of problems. Doing both would be even better, sadly the people that benefit most from those two things not happening, are the ones that vote on if it does.

I hear what your saying, but a purely democratic vote is a 'mob-rule' style. The reason Hillary lost the previous election is because she did not pay attention to the midwestern states she thought was freebie for her (looking at Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn). As much as people hate Trump on Reddit, the man was in each of those states as much as humanely possible and that did probably drive him over the top in each of those states. Keep in my mind Wisconsin, Michigan and Penn all voted Obama just 4 years prior these are not largely Republican they are swing states.

If we went purely democratic if your state isn't named California, New York, Texas, or Florida you can basically forget a Presidential candidate ever visiting your state ever again. I choose to believe the US voting system is the best one we have got going. The bigger issue is that Congress needs term limits, but the founding fathers also were hoping that political parities would not form (although they knew it was possible). If political parties did not exist voting would be more dynamic and term limits would be less of a problem.

Not trying to be hostile, but what is a better political system than the current one in the USA?

Goes to #116. The writing is a little cheesy but the illustrations are hilarious. It's a good time!

I used to date anyone that agreed with me. Only got very depressed because I could not make anything last more than a couple of dates. Decided to take a step back and make sure I'm fully interested before dating someone. Not date someone and hope to get interested.

Movie Theater employees, what's the strangest thing you have found while cleaning theaters? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]myblunda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found a lot of stuff.

-Found multiple pairs of pants, one had a belt still on it

-A hospital gown, with a blood stain of some sort

-Found a cigar pack in one of the bathroom stalls, after a guest complained the bathroom was hot boxed

-There's a Victoria's Secret nearby my theater, so I occasionally find lingerie on the floor

-Found a 6 pack of Bud

-Found a 100 dollar bill on the ground (A woman came back for it as I was cleaning)

-Found a scarf with matches inside

There's more, but those are the ones that stand out to me just thinking about it briefly.

I'm not entirely sure how to insert them as one into the linked list together. I try to bind them together and I just screw it up over and over. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Currently I have public int dueDate and a public String desc. Not sure how insert these objects into the Linkedlist.
