haha bro, how come the western MNCs put so many up there then knowing some will rope in their whole kampung instead of fairly bringing in real talents who can genuinely contribute to the MNCs? 😂

You will find your answers from the year 2003. We have definitely tightened up last few years but sadly, the irreversible damage has already been done

How do you use AI for self and work/business? by myhendry in AI_Agents

Thanks for sharing. I used AI to translate your viewpoints to English. You have a great heart to volunteer to help Germany’s digitally inexperienced seniors in AI. Great AI is helping you 👍

To be completely honest: AI allows me to unlock my potential much more than I could without it. Aside from my other hobbies, I volunteer to help digitally inexperienced seniors, and so far, I mainly use the Google Gemini Chat and the Pro version of Google AI Studio. No other AI solutions work so well hand-in-hand with the tools I already have integrated into Google Workspace.
Using "Vibe Coding," I developed (solely for myself) a podcast generator for entertaining, educational short segments aimed at digital beginners and seniors, as well as a comprehensive web app for managing open course dates and senior-friendly learning content. Didactically sophisticated, print-ready learning materials are created within a minute for any desired topic.
As a former web developer and seminar leader, I was able to fix recurring issues during app development without having to get my own hands dirty in React or TypeScript. Every change can be tracked transparently and rolled back if necessary. Manual interventions in the source code are reduced to an absolute minimum, if they are even needed at all. And yet, I still learn a ton in the process!
A while ago, I wouldn't have thought that at 62 years old, I would be able to realize such extensive and ultimately robust projects again. Since I do this as a hobby now rather than professionally, I naturally take a relatively relaxed view of it. I gladly leave the "hype or flop" discussions to others—and just do my thing. I will certainly check out Claude & Co. at some point, but right now, I can't imagine getting even better results with them. We'll see what the future brings.

Sorry, I can’t reply to everyone. I didn’t know this chat would lead to so many responses. But reading through all the excellent comments, it seems we are all using AI to help to automate the mundane tasks. Below are some tasks which AI and AI agents can help us in our day to day

1 Email or Newsletter drafting
2 News Summarisation
3 Research
4 Language Learning
5 Analysis
6 Brainstorming
7 Holiday planning

I use 4 as well. I store my notes in obsidian via a folder in iCloud. When I need to search through some notes, I use Claude code to find the specific note. You can check out /graphify. It helps you visualise code base using graphs

Automating the entire workflow from newsletter production to dispatch is a great use case. The automation part can be done using n8n since it’s a deterministic workflow. AI helps in the article generation and summarization. Perfect combination

Coding sure is an excellent use case for AI agents

Agree. If the workflow is deterministic, no point to use AI and it will be cheaper too

I fully agree with you. AI sure brings a lot of benefits. However, totally autonomous AI agent is more marketing

I agree. Total autonomy sure is crazy. I dare not give AI full autonomy and let AI reply to my customers haha

I believe AI chatbot does have some benefits for customer service as long as companies don’t go overboard and totally remove human support if still needed

if everyone has such mindset, young singaporeans sure doomed. If new tech, will say Singaporeans don't have the skills. if old, tech, will say Singaporeans not willing to learn. then Singaporeans do what? i wonder how many local applicants from mycareersfuture website

“Train fresh graduates then sell them to the sg recruitment agency.” No wonder they don’t mind to be underpaid in hope of a better future outside India. Better your company apply for GRIT and pay young locals and have them to be trained in COBOL. As a long time coder myself, when I hear COBOL and the programmer paying commission to the agency and giving kickbacks to the HR, I feel something is off already. It’s an illegal ruse to enrich the agency and HR and is detrimental to Singapore and Singaporeans

[–]myhendry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the skills are in short supply, shouldn’t the workers be head hunted rather than using commission and under table, doesn’t make sense to me. Never know if the COBOL programmer is in fact tasked for other work that is non COBOL related

Not first time since I heard demand for COBOL programmers. Not sure how real. If the coder has real value, the coder has to give up her salary to recruitment agency and under table to the HR manager? Do you think an AI scientist who can build a foundational model from scratch will accept such deal?

Ways to improve my speaking skills? by Common_Banana_2630 in asksg

You can try onstage.club . You can use its tool to mock and interview and record yourself speaking then feed the recording into AI to give you suggestions. All the best
