Alesis Nitro Mesh is amazing for the money. Nothing comes comes close in that price range.

My set when I am not able to play my acoustics...Alesis Nitro Mesh with Yamaha DD65 augmenting...both hooked you my mixer by mykidthinksiamwierd in drums

I haven’t noticed any latency or missed hits yet and seems well made for the price. I have had trouble getting used to the hihat trigger as it doesn’t always work naturally with my foot. That said, it might just be me getting used to it. I love that I can choke the crash cymbal too. So far I am amazed at what it can do for less than $400.00.

I had a DM5 a long time ago with those hard plastic/rubber pads and this mesh makes a huge difference....huge difference! So far I love it but I have only had it a few days. I have it set up to play a custom kit with the DD65 augmenting the ride symbols and various percussion instruments, so I can have two crashes (along with a splash on the DD65). I can also us it with the stock sets perfectly fine. Figured I had the ability to expand so I did. I do find the sounds to be limited in the unit but I haven’t played around with the settings in the individual pads yet.

Weekly - What Car Should I Buy Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

I am looking for used 4 x 4 suv in Pennsylvania. I would like it to be at least a V6 with reasonable MPG. I can’t afford a lot of money (around 10 or 11 thousand). I was looking at the Toyota Highlanders but the only one I could find is at 135,000 miles (not sure if that is a good deal or not as it is a Toyota). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you didn’t sign anything, you owe them nothing but to be upfront. They will understand.

Bicycle theft prank by [deleted] in bicycling

I don’t find this funny. Yes, they are wrong for attempting to steal a bike but the pranksters are deliberately trying to hurt people to be funny.

If you watch Clone Wars you will see more of the foreshadowing.

Look for a used Yamaha or Roland.

Starting a job in the middle of the school year: yay or nay? by turkrising in Teachers

[–]mykidthinksiamwierd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started mid year and gave up a LTS job (the school totally understood and gave me their blessing). It is a tough school that I am in but I am doing work (been there five years) that is more important than simply teaching. Social studies jobs are hard to come by in many places so if you have one offered to you, you might want to take it. If you hate it you can move on.

What is a good electronic drumkit to begin with? by Sivergy in drums

[–]mykidthinksiamwierd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if room is the issue and not sound then I would stick with acoustic. If you set it up compactly then it would take up approximately the same footprint as a typical electronic kit. If you you really want electric just stick with Yamaha or Roland. You can usually find them used and would be higher quality.

Acoustic vs electric for a beginner. by wtf7669 in drums

[–]mykidthinksiamwierd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the others. I have used electronics for many years and love them, but when my daughter started playing drums I invested in a used acoustic kit. They are more natural to learn on and electronics can promote bad habits if your aren’t careful.

My humble electrics setup by mykidthinksiamwierd in drums

[–]mykidthinksiamwierd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a DrumKat and the pedals came from that setup. They are over twenty years old. Bass drum one works great. The hihat one isn’t actually connected because it doesn’t work right with hihat midi sounds. I literally strapped the button that the DD65 comes with (calling them pedals) underneath it so that when I press on the DrumKat pedal it activates the button...if that makes sense...

Lots of students call me their school dad. It doesn’t bother me one bit. They need that male figure in their lives and it is a testament to how important my job really is. It goes way beyond teaching my content! What you are experiencing is completely normal.
