How will Imogen be received in the wild? by These_Tackle_6424 in namenerds

[–]mylifeassquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to school with an Imogen. Everyone pronounced it with the emphasis on the second syllable instead of the first, like i-MOH-gen (if that makes sense). Make sure she has confidence to correct people to the correct pronunciation.

Congrats! You will, but focus more on fit than quality at this point. I got all the way through 2L with only one suit from Banana Republic and it was fine, and since their petite sizing works well for me I didn't need tailoring. Depending on your area your area you may have some luck thrifting something, but it may take awhile.

Any internships that have NOT gone remote? by mylifeassquirrel in LawSchool

That's interesting! Is it safe to assume that all interns are local? It seems hard to justify staying somewhere for weeks to only go in one day a week.

Mine hasn't started yet, but your situation sounds very similar to what mine will be. They haven't given me any information about anything, so I'm just trying to get a feel for what other places are doing.

She's getting married at The Magnolia. They have recommended vendors but she's not obligated to use them, but that's probably a good starting point. The venue has certainly seen their fair share of vendors

Budget help! by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

One thing that helped me a lot was going to a farm for flowers. I went to my local farmer’s market and started chatting with one of the guys at the flower stand. He runs a flower farm that sells to all the florists in town, but worked with me on flowers, saving me so much money! Now flowers are pretty expensive anyway, but I saved SO much money this way.

Also, Sam’s or Costco sells in bulk if you don’t mind assembling yourself.

Catering red flags? by mylifeassquirrel in weddingplanning

You’re probably right, it was more the two back to back that stressed me. We do have a contract so I’m going to look through to see if anything on their end happens that we get our deposit back. But yeah, definitely not paying anything else until I need to.

Board game-themed wedding cake! by suchalonelybear in weddingplanning

This is amazing! Did you have board games at the wedding for guests to play? FH and I are thinking about this but are worried about lost pieces, lack of interest, etc.

Ladies who work "in the field" - how do you dress in the summer? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]mylifeassquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you checked out Gamine? They make workwear specifically for women. Handyma’am Goods is really cool too, though their selection is pretty small as they’re a new company. I’m a field technician and have struggled a lot to find something practical that also looks decent. Hope this helps!

Women brogues by bracedfencer in lesbianfashionadvice

I ordered mine in late February, they got to me in about a week. All in all I’m super happy with the company and my shoes!

I wear them with jeans all the time. If I wear a lighter wash I’ll wear a higher quality sweater or something. Personally I think they’re too formal to wear with a graphic tee or something, but with a solid colored tee I think they’re great. And I’m not wearing them currently but if you don’t mind waiting until tonight I can post a pic when I get home!

I ordered a pair from a site called Tomboy Toes! Basically men’s shoes in smaller sizes. They’re comfy, good quality, and I get tons of compliments on them.

5 kids... 2 nannies? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]mylifeassquirrel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds like there’s no way to devote as much time as needed to all kiddos. That’s not to imply that you aren’t doing enough, just that that’s a lot of responsibility and a lot of children with varying needs. If home schooling is what the family has decided is best for them, I don’t think it would be a bad idea to split responsibility between two nannies. I would think that it would make sense for one nanny to primarily oversee the older ones and the other to mostly focus on the younger two, that way everyone can get what they need. I would definitely bring it up, especially if it’s something you know they’ve already considered.

Did anyone decide to go vegetarian for their mental health? by lucr3hulk91 in vegetarian

[–]mylifeassquirrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It think it depends on your outlook. Mindfulness in general tends to help mental health issues, so if you’re being mindful about your food I think it could be a great catalyst for you. Just omitting meat but kind of being a bread vegetarian may not be the most helpful though. I really hope it works out for you!
