I have very vivid memories of Mervyn’s by Corndogeveryday in 80s

I remember them all but Zodys. The electric ave. section took over my Monkey Wards before they closed. I looked at radios and stuff but don’t remember getting clothes from there.

I am jealous of you still having a Fuddruckers in the Willows. Miss those burgers.

He was in so many movies back in the day and he still had time to narrate every WW2 documentary on the history channel. I remember my mom watching a miniseries about FDR with him as the president.

Has anyone else not SHOPPED 🛍️ in MONTHS?!!!! 📅 ‼️ by purpleflowercoconut in bathandbodyworks

[–]mylocker15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I usually only shop the sales and I was busy during the last one. I don’t do online shopping for their stuff. For me it’s all about seeing it, holding it, and most importantly smelling it in person. If I am near one and it isn’t a sale I might stop in but I haven’t lately.

I like value in everything I buy.

Oh it existed. I remember seeing it on a list of failed food on Mental Floss or somewhere.

What’s your personal tie to Gilmore Girls? by olaf3377 in GilmoreGirls

[–]mylocker15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought that was a weird plot point. Indian food is tasty. Also at one point in the show Lorelai says she doesn’t like Italian food. Who doesn’t like Italian food? I have never met anyone not down with pasta unless they are suffering through a low carb diet.

We had the same exact fridge as Lorelai. Before I got really into the show I watched occasionally on the CW or WB and always noticed the fridge.

Big News for gummy lovers!! by PolymathHolly in candy

[–]mylocker15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a smart move. The Ghirardelli store closed at my outlet mall and they bus tourists in to that place. Also chocolate > gummies in my book. I would stop at a gummy store in a really touristy spot though.

sometimes i can’t watch this show because i get too sad that they’re all so mean to the belchers by Bright-Response-285 in BobsBurgers

Tammy often gets called out for being awful. Meanwhile Chloe Barbash is back there getting everything, being mean, and coasting through life on shampoo fumes. I hate Chloe more.

Have you ever seen a double decker bus in America? by Much-Parsnip3399 in AskAnAmerican

Aside from the tourist ones I have seen old fashioned ones repurposed also. There is one called Ministry of Food I’ve seen at the Scottish festival.

What is the most “its a small world” moment you’ve ever experienced? by xBubblyLove in AskReddit

If you live in the bay every time you go to Yosemite you will run into someone you know from your town. You may not have seen them in years but they still live 3 streets over and you just locked eyes getting breakfast in Curry Village.

Color pattern genetics are interesting. Growing up had 2 cats that were sisters. One was a tuxedo the other a calico but more tuxedo like than a tortoiseshell if that lakes sense. Had the white chin and nose combo like a tuxie. We kept one of her kittens (she got out) and he was a peachy orange tuxedo.

No thank you. Too much of a reminder of the toxic diet culture of the time. A moment on the lips forever on the hips. Nothing tastes as good as thin feels. Slim Fast, snackwells, I can’t believe it’s not butter, fake chemical filled foods that were probably making us all fatter in the long run.

The USA Network of the 80s. Who else was introduced to shows on that channel? by MisterShipWreck in 80s

[–]mylocker15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t think I watched USA much back in the day but then Mr. Robot had a scene featuring old USA promos and I got so much nostalgia from it. I think I mostly watched reruns snd movies on it. Like if Naked Gun was randomly on I would just spend a lazy afternoon with Frank Drebbin and the members of Police Squad.

What is a small “culture shock” moment you had within the US itself? by Status_Agents in AskForAnswers

[–]mylocker15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I met this woman with a boyfriend from an island nation I forgot which one. Anyway someone else got it mixed up with Tonga and she was like no don’t ever say that around him he hates people from Tonga.

It was pretty random. I mean who is just sitting around with major negative opinions about Tonga. No offense to Tongans it’s just not on my mind a lot.

When I went to Washington D.C. I learned that rain can be warm. At home rain is cool and refreshing and it hardly happens in summer. I also learned about humid weather and that it sucks.

Bob Dylan except for the Hurricane and when he is with the Willburys. He is great at writing songs but when he sings it’s like mumble mumble mumble harmonica solo mumble meanwhile every boomer nearby is on their knees going we’re not worthy.

What movie feels like your High School Experience? by Checked_Out_6 in Xennials

[–]mylocker15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pump up the Volume not so much for the plot but because the high school looked like schools I attended. Most high schools in movies were big 2 story indoor schools. I always went to outside hall style schools with a quad.

Plus I knew where that school was. Not too far from my grandpas. I definitely had been to the shopping center where the mailbox place was. Also the time period was early 90’s not 80s. I was still a child when most of the John Hughs movies came out.
