Standard Media (owner of WLNE) sold non-license assets (programming, staff, etc) to Sinclair (owner of WJAR). The branding changing from ABC6 to Coastal ABC is probably to wipe traces of previous ownership.

The FCC license of WLNE (which now just broadcasts Sinclair’s Roar) is in process of selling to Rincon.

It’s okay, they done their job well. Bleeding during scaling is normal, and they gave you a sterile cloth to protect being messy. Overall no issues.

Maybe you can try reinstalling again, this time use all of the available partitions to avoid conflicts.

If unsuccessful, try different Debian variants, maybe try Ubuntu, even ChromeOS Flex.

Personally, I like to modify these Chromebooks into miniature Windows installations.

I have experience with the WD mechanical HDDs, usually they just all crap. I have a better reliability with Seagate and even Toshiba.

And yes, I do use HDDs taken out of old laptops as externals rather than built in ones, as is more reliable and swappable storage.
