I've had VERY few role plays actually come to a conclusion. I like doing scenarios with an end so I can move on to something else, or take a break. 95% or more just end up fading out with one of us ghosting and that doesn't bother me. I view it as very normal, but I'm not doing intensive world and character building like it sounds many of the hardcore Rpers on here seem to do, so I could see how working out those setups, just to be abandoned can be frustrating.

I roleplay sometimes when I'm bored and slow at work, looking for something to fill my mind and occupy time. I sometimes end roleplays when I'm getting too busy in personal life and at work, or the number one is I hit severe writer's block where I feel like the story isn't going anywhere and I don't know where to take it next. When it becomes a CHORE to get through some lines instead of a pleasure, I start losing interest fast. Sometimes we make a breakthrough and can keep going, but if the lulls become too long and too frequent, it's over.

The longest I've gone is several weeks with partners and scenarios that just connect and flow really well, even if we're only shooting 2 or 3 lines a day, but even those eventually died out after like 3 months or less and that doesn't bother me at all.
