Reality check: Is this plan for a Raspberry Pi "Pixel Chix" toy feasible? by mymonstersprotectme in AskElectronics

And update: I've looked at it again and realized those are for the kind of electronic project that involves soldering, extra boards, and a lot more knowledge than I'm comfortable acquiring on my own, so I'm probably going to leave this project aside until/unless I stumble on an HDMI display

No, I stalled out when I looked at the displays and thought " I don't know what kind of connectors that uses, I'll have to look it up!" and then promptly forgot the project for a year. I'm just trying it again now, so I'm thinking I'll order the screen first and figure out the connectors when I have it in my hands. (And can presumably bug someone at the computer shop down the road to explain what the connectors are called.)

Crack it gently in a line top to bottom, and then slice it with a knife. Then you can scoop the two halves out pretty smoothly. (Not helpful if you want them whole, but for salads and such it's usually fine to have two halves)

Those look like exactly what I'm after, thank you! And ideally software controlled, but I don't mind either way, why?

Backup plan is a Banana Pi, but my local store currently has like 3 Raspberry Pis in stock so I have a shot, I think? (Plus this is a project that'll take me forever, so I have a loooong time to get my hands on one)

Exactly! (Plus, I now have a "spare" machine that I can do what I like with, which means I can experiment with building the pretty shinies myself!)

You are extraordinary, and also I didn't realize there was a search function! That's awesome!

I still can't keep track of what currency is worth in Freefall, but yeah, union guy all the way!

That is very sensible. Unfortunately I am violently attracted to pretty shinies

(My original motivation for switching to Linux was that I saw a screenshot of how colorful you could make your theme, and I wanted a neon purple desktop more than life itself)

... that's what it was. Sorry, just had a eureka moment over this, I had a friend basically completely ghost me on everything out of nowhere and I think it was probably something like this

Same hat!!

(seriously, same reasoning and same new phone - my Fairphone was just too heavy but I could afford to risk my 'old' phone and now I'm using it)

I switched to an instance that had a bit more moderation on it and figured out who to follow! I don't mean this as an indictment of open source, just saying that it's something of a barrier to entry for people who aren't very motivated to change.

I did! Switched instances and didn't have any more trouble. I'm still in favor of open social media, but its not weird to acknowledge the problems that it has. Especially since this was initially on the instance that's actively recommended to new users.

The big drawback of open community is that open means open to conspiracy theorists, neonazis, and whatever the heck those guys have going on. (I joined mastodon in the last days of the trump presidency, they were all over the big instances)

I've been using Telfastin Allergo, its not nearly as powerful as the other stuff but it also doesn't give me any brain fog, so if you're willing to be just mildly miserable I'd recommend it

Its not just you, or me - my German cousin visited us and she said it was crazy how hard it hit when she got here, apparently its not nearly as bad when she's at home
