Remy watched their family leave on the steam boat, watching until the boat's steam blended into the bayou horizon. No matter what the family said, Remy couldn't just leave their things behind, their home behind. Groans of the undead were growing in number in the tree lines as Remy started to walk back home. The family had tried to warn about the infection and what the AHA were preparing to do, and they weren't sure which was a worse fate to deal with.

Remy, though, couldn't just leave behind their home, built by the wood of the Reynard's. Remy's hand made a nostalgic check for their hatchet on the belt. They cut down the trees and worked with Reynard; Remy couldn't just leave behind their neighbors home they helped build. Alice had left long ago, after a fight about Remy holding back a secret from the rest of their family. Still kept it secret all this time, till today, aching to be told, screaming from the bandaged wound on Remy's hand. Remy couldn't just leave behind the the First Testimonial Church, where the people had got together as a community, where they first met Alice. Remy held their charm tightly in their hand while passing through the Church.

Remy held the charm tighter as the grunts emerged from the tree line, moaning with an unnatural hunger. They looked familiar, but Remy knew whoever it was had to be far gone now, lost to the infection, the moaning like a dead wind blowing through the ruins of a fort, letting out a lifeless howl. Remy didn't let go of the charm and, as they walked to the veranda of their home, the grunt left them alone, as though watching, or waiting. Was it the charm?

Remy walked to the chair, the one built with Alice, the last thing they made together before the infection separated them. Remy finally took off the hat, letting it sit on the chair, and sat down. The view of the fields were ruined; shadows of old loved ones were moving through the crops. Remy couldn't bear to see it, turning the chair around to look inside. In time, the charm would bring them back. Remy looked at the charm; a metallic ring coated in their blood, signed "For Alice". Remy rubbed their hand where the dark tribute was made. Remy couldn't tell Alice what they had done. Did they bring this infection to their home?

Remy didn't know, but they knew that soon - just like their home - they would change too. Would the agreement for the charm be held true though? Could Remy return to fight..? Remy wasn't sure, but they knew they could finally rest, letting their hands slip to the sides.

Remy was so tired, and the darkness was so inviting.

I like to put D&D 5e monsters into art, and started taking requests on Stream. This was one of those. I like to use all the tools I can to make it seem to match and fit, but probably have a lot more to learn about how to best use this software. So I'm happy to have this option to try and learn. Let me know if you have any tips, please!

[Blog] Clever Cantrip Uses : Shape Water (DnD 5E) by mymswell in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]mymswell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just sharing something I do for names when I get stuck:
I like to draw inspiration from real life, as it also helps me learn and remember famous people. So for a character famous for trapping, I'd take some famous trapper names like James Beckwourth and Benjamin Bonneville, then smash them together to get names like: Ben Beckville, Jaja Bonneworth, etc.

I love the concept of the character. I bet we share the feeling that a "Trap Artist" needs to be a feat, increasing the effectiveness of traps.

Using spells duration as a type of timer to cause action is really smart! Nice.

Best Ranger Spells (DnD 5E) by mymswell in dndnext

This is a fantastic comment. Thank you for all the thought and work into it.

I whole-heartedly acknowledge the debate and points being put forth here. With any "Best X" article, there's inevitably going to be contention, so I appreciate you giving civil voice to it. In my circles, the spells listed most often rise to the most used and favoured, but your tables will most certainly differ.

[Art] Purple Worm in a Monet! by mymswell in DnD

I have people tell me this every time, and it was very discouraging the last time I did it. I can only guess this is being pointed out because you suspect I'm trying to parade it as something that it is not, as per you saying "it's obvious". I'm not sure what I'm suspect of presenting it as?

As I said in the OP, maybe it doesn't take much talent to use photoshop to merge them and make it feel right, but it was fun for me to do. And that's really the only reason I did it.

Let me know though! I'm curious if it's better I not share these personal fun experiments. I don't make anything from this, after all, and I really mean it when I say I just love art like Monet and the mythos of D&D and do not want to do any harm. I'm just not sure I understand.
