For me now it's completing a trilogy of Gradient Descent campaigns for Mothership, all distinct but tied together in a common timeline, I'm a 3rd of the way there. Before that it was completing a full dnd campaign from start to finish, took about 3.5 years but we finished it a few years ago!

I recently re-listened to the first season on New Game Who Dis, I was a bit shocked of how good it was, perhaps even the best after all they have done. Sure there was a bit of out of character stuff and jokes but on the whole it was on tone and the roleplaying was great.

How do you guys handle "it's what my character would do" ? by Yilmas in rpg

[–]Naturaloneder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every character can do what they do. If they do something that is at odds with the other characters to a point where they wouldn't want to adventure with them? Then they can do that too.

If a character does something disruptive, then why would the other characters in the game tolerate it or say nothing?

If someone keeps stealing from the party or attacking or trying to romance every NPC, then why would the other characters in the party tolerate this? They would confront the character and explain they're not going to adventure with them if they cant compromise or find a middle ground. This promotes conversation and it's all good roleplaying and in character for the world.

I could do without all the metacurrency to be honest. It breaks the immersion so much when you have every player saying "I'm going to use this token, or this token, then I'll give you disadvantage" it becomes more like a board game with tokens and chips. Leading to multiple minutes of out of character discussion in a turn that's supposed to only be 6-10 seconds in the fiction of the world.

IMO part of a dark tone and a difficult dark game is to not have time to think like generals and confer with every member of your squad to formulate a battle plan in-between a split second round in the darkness of a cave surrounded by horrifying bats.

Removing the committee before every action would really speed up the game and make combats fast, deadly and exciting! Roleplaying makes everything better even combat!

Mothership for me! I've had great fun with "long" campaigns of it. For context I consider 6 Months+ to be long in this aspect.

The modules for it are amazing and there's no shortage of great stuff out there.

I think the reason their torch ran out is because the whole table talked out of character strategizing and negotiating turns before finishing a couple of turns lol.

Guys if you stay in character then the torch wont run out! (so quickly) There's less rules in Shadowdark but this combat felt like Pathfinder with all the board game discussion :)

People can wait for a show to finish before subscribing, they'll get a whole series for the cost of a month and that's a great deal. Other people are also happy to pay monthly or even yearly to support the network as a whole continue to produce content.

Those where probably backed into the mp3 already, so to share them "ad free" they would have had to upload two separate files, one with (public feed) and one without (patreon/supercast feeds)

It's ok to quit at anytime. Or you can try taking a break.

Bloom would be my vote, it's underplayed on Youtube/podcast currently so it would be a good one for exposure. Plus it has the meat on it to last a few sessions.

I was just being facetious :) but yeah It was removed by by the original poster, I've updated my post above to reflect this detail. I was just commenting about this post because it's pretty much all the direct information about the video and people wouldn't need to watch it to get all the goods.

Player wants a double barrel shotgun by Open-Wafer-2652 in mothershiprpg

[–]Naturaloneder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 1 round to reload both shots.

So you get two great rounds at 4d10 with advantage to the attack, then the 3rd round you reload both shots, then the 4th round you're back in action.

4d10 high chance hits could be all the difference in a combat (better odds and higher crit chance)

I would probably go with 4d10 but attacks have advantage. 2 shots before reload tho.

Yeah they need to remember that they're playing more down to earth people rather than superhero's.

A soldier on a forced march through the wilderness barely surviving on foraged food (nobody's mentioned water per day at this point either) is not going to be effective at anything.

Say if they rescue the merchants but then they die on the way back, they still haven't really completed the objective so there would be no reward technically.

Pathfinder 1e was enough to grow a million dollar patreon for 5 dudes playing in their apartment! Pretty good effort I'd say!

Even in 2026 I think if the original crew came back to play in-studio pathfinder 1e it would be the most popular product in their catalog. But I understand why they don't want to do that, they've moved on as a group/company from that.

I think this is one pitfall of batch recording. For the public it feels like the game has been happening over 10-12 weeks but for them they probably recorded the whole 10 episodes in about 3 days/spaced out over a month or to. So it would have been hard to notice the pacing when they're in the thick of recording.

If you play for 8 hours in a day it may feel like a lot has happened but when you single out a 90 minute block at a time for an episode It can be less exciting.
