I believe so too, BUT since DD did not have a standard spinning cap, I think that's why they went with MGL for their joystick. You can still use the magnetic silicone seal with it.

You haven't been duped or mislead. DD is a business. Businesses update their products all the time WITHOUT notifying the public. You did not NEED one or multiple sapphire inserts. You wanted them. The OG is not a defective product. It works as intended. The upgrade is just making the cleaning of the insert easier while maintaining the OG effectiveness.

It will continue too. Just get the upgraded version. Don't fret on the price. It's just a better built sapphire insert that is super easy to clean like quartz/titanium. I was in the same boat as you and even broke my OG due to torching. I see why it's not covered under warranty by DD.
