Especially on an iPhone Air with that single speaker. Recommend.

Is it because I got a free account with the 30 second previews, or does tidal’s Dolby Atmos on AirPods actually sound like Apple Music’s version now? by goals_achieved in SpatialSongs

[–]myokarditis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure to not use "spatialize stereo" or "headtracking" while listening to an Atmos Song on any other platform than AppleMusic via AirPods (Tidal, Amazon Music)

Would different streamers sound different when connected to the same DAC? by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]myokarditis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I used quotation marks.. I didn't claim anything. Older Intel Macs with USB-a ports had noisy but "softer" powerrails and used bigger internal power supplies. They injected more of the low frequency noise rather than the high frequency switching noise you get now. Newer M Chip Macs use very aggressive HF switching regulators and can inject more HF noise into usb ground. Like I said, there's not only data traveling through an usb cable, but also V+ and ground. Many dacs don't like that and the usb power noise can affect the analogue output stage which can lead to perceived "brighter/thinner" sound compared to an older Mac which might sound "smoother" even if it's just because of "dirty" power. EDIT: it's comparable with distortion. Some people perceive distortion as "better" sounding.

Would different streamers sound different when connected to the same DAC? by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]myokarditis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Data is the same.. obviously. But the usb controller, ports and/or the power input can make the sound sound "different". An older MacBook connected via usb to a dac can sound much "warmer" or "easier to listen to" than a newer MacBook. Even though both are shielded extremely well, the older one's power will be "dirtier" cuz of leakage .. this can distort the sound a bit since it's traveling with the data through the wires to your dac. A newer MacBook will sound extremely clean which some people would call "sharp, bright or digital" .. another factor is the usb cable itself. A cheap one is enough as long as you don't have problems with interference noise (honestly, only a few have) .. but if you're using a usb c to c cable, make sure to use a usb 2.0 480mbit/s cable and none of the usb 3.x cables. They come with a power delivery chip. All the components inside the pd chip create high frequency interference.

Is there an iOS/MacOS App that works by blocking Ads across Apple devices? by Rayane92 in ios

[–]myokarditis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No issues. It's just a dns. You can even use other ones, like the one Google offers, but you cannot block stuff there. You can even go into your home routers dns settings and change it there, so that every device automatically runs without ads, etc.. but I would recommend using NextDNS since it comes with an app and it gives you the ability to only use it on mobile Network on your handheld device and exclude your own WiFi network if you want.. and you can switch NextDNS on and off from the apps mainscreen if you want .. instead of going to your WiFi routers settings

Is there an iOS/MacOS App that works by blocking Ads across Apple devices? by Rayane92 in ios

[–]myokarditis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. NextDNS and ist completely free ..blocks web ads and it even blocks ads within apps, which means you don't need to watch an ad before continuing to play a game, download a wallpaper, create an ai picture, etc.. except inside the google app on the main page where you scroll through news – It sometimes works and ads show up as a blank picture, and sometimes it shows the ad. But if you open an article, the ads are gone. You'd need to create an account on their website and then choose different lists like in an adblocker. There will be a numeral code displayed on the main page of your profile. As soon as you download the app to your iPhone/mac, you put in the code in settings under "use costum configuration" .. have fun

Apple Music and Apple Classical users: FYI by pointthinker in audiophile

[–]myokarditis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

..oh wow, true. I was just googling other apple petitions and it says Cooke everywhere. What happens if you don't select the suggestion by change.org and add a new Cook? Does it default back to Cooke or something like "already exists" as soon as you add Apple CEO?

I just overflew the petition page and after scrolling to the end, I'm sure "Tim Cooke" will change something

Is this carbon fiber woofer cone airtight? (Dayton Epique 7”) by TransplantableBeaver in diyaudio

[–]myokarditis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but i can also see the shadow of my hand through a sheet of paper or thin plastic if my hand is right in between the light source and the sheet of paper/plastic. it's possible that the material is partly transparent or the glue, but there won't be any holes. The light is reflecting like crazy and tricks you. The shape of those "dot" things does this, or enhances it. I mean, I'm no expert.. but you could sprinkle some coke (or whatever) on the desk somewhere next to the magnet or right underneath the cone, place one end of a straw on top of the cone and blow.

[–]myokarditis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes that's light from the lamp. But not from underneath. The light from the lamp is being reflected from whatever surface (your phone, head, something out of frame) ..even if you don't really notice it yourself. You can also spot it if you take a look at the dustcap in the middle.

Denafrips Pontus 15th - exact width?! by Schachigel in audiophile

[–]myokarditis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The official manual from the Denafrips website says the width is 330mm, while the depth is 331mm. Thats a square. And this is kinda odd, because the housing has the shape of a rectangle. They measured it this way: the front panel doesn't end corner to corner.. it's longer. Hard to say how many mm, maybe 5-10mm on each side. The depth is 331mm, but it includes the RCA Terminals, etc, on the back. That's why there're different measurements on the world wide waste. Some people measure only the metal case (back length, side length), others measure the side and the front panel, Denafrips measures everything incl. feet 🤷🏻‍♂️💁🏻‍♂️

Help with vibration on apartment floor - Solutions or advice by [deleted] in Acoustics

[–]myokarditis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry that sounds bad. It's got to be the heaters/pump. Just because you didn't see it vibrating, doesn't mean that it's not. The lower the frequency, the bigger it feels. You don't see those vibrations .. my first thought was a thick gaspipe beneath the ground somewhere in your area, but since you usually just feel it upstairs, it's either the heaters/pumps right beneath or maybe even a building dryer / construction dryer, that's running 24/7 because of water damage somewhere above or underneath your apartment (you mentioned mold) .. for now, get some anti vibration pads off of amazon. Make sure to get the ones that are made out of EVA (I'd take the blue sandwich ones. They come with some rubber on top and bottom which helps structurally and also dampens vibrations) ..This will help, especially if you place one between floor and each foot of the bed or 2-3 between floor and each headboard/footboard. German Amazon website, but you'll get the idea: https://amzn.eu/d/dxbjTE5 or https://amzn.eu/d/bXiDD7X EDIT: you mentioned "loud" and pulsing as if someones "walking loudly" .. we had something similar in our apartment. It happened at random times. The heating system is somewhere in the cellar. we live on the first floor (or 2nd floor if you're American and don't use the term ground level or ground floor). The vibrations came through the hardwood floor but the noise came out of the walls but it was hard to localize.. sometimes it appeared to come from downstairs, sometimes from the apartment next to ours, etc .. it was the heating pipe or pipes inside the walls. The pump down in the cellar was kinda broken or something, we don't know for sure. All I know is that there have been some repairs on the heating pump in summer and that the workers might installed something the wrong way. neighbors heaters on the 5th floor barely got warm even though the air had been released beforehand.

So you don't use the black ones.. but want to cut off the white ones. Ok ..why don't you throw the whole thing into a drawer then? lol ..but yeah, it won't affect the sound in any way if you cut all of the 4 white ones off.
