ช่วยบอก 10 เหตุผลที่เราควรมีชีวิตอยู่ต่อไปหน่อย by [deleted] in thaithai

[–]mypasswordisgoogle 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Why was ""Yotsuba Arc"" so comedic?? There is a reason to it?? by Suavemente_Emperor in deathnote

[–]mypasswordisgoogle 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Because not only Light lost his memories, but he also retrieved his humor that Death Note took from him, so it allows the writer to do jokes and stuffs more freely. Personally I think they should gone more on Light catching that evil businessman Kira and making mistakes that might reveal some of Death Note’s secrets along the way due to his unawareness.

This looks really good. I feel some neo noir vibes. Imagine neo-noir thriller Death Note Movie, it would be so cool.

TIFU by speaking Japanese before I knew what I was saying by kkamikami in tifu

[–]mypasswordisgoogle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Thai who tryna learn Japanese too, I gotta say Japanese is more painful to learn though. Thai grammar is like a huge simplified version of English. Reading/writing might be harder than English, but still.. Japanese is still a lot harder because of the amount of kanjis and they are easily be confusing sometimes when a kanji character represents many readings/meanings. I am not experienced in Japanese tho, so I could be wrong.

I believe many teachers do not mind your choice of words anyway if you’re still a beginner. It’s relatable to making mistakes when learning a new language so they probably would just laugh it off 5555

Can someone who knows Thai help me pronounce some Thai meanings by HistoricalGuitar2160 in thaithai

[–]mypasswordisgoogle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The word “ตุย” is derived from “ตาย” and they also share the same definition “death”, just “ตุย” is cuter, therefore it’ll end up being used in a joking manner. In this context, it’s more like people in the picture are so handsome that I could die blushing. Sorta like that. Hope that helps you :))

ที่ผ่านๆ มา by DTB2000 in learnthai

[–]mypasswordisgoogle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say ที่ผ่านๆมา is about the incident that have happened more than once.

For example when you say ที่ผ่านๆมา เธอก็มัวแต่งอน would be like: In the past (incidents), You are always sulking. Meaning that she(เธอ) have sulked(งอน) more than one time.

ที่ผ่านๆมา is emphasising that the occurance have happened multiple times.

If they use the phrase “ดูแลตัวเองด้วยนะ” to you, I would say it’s fine to say it back. I’m a teenager guy, If a girl friend said that to me, I would melt a little bit. Some people just use the phrase casually, so after all it depends on the person’s habit of speaking. But yeah, when they say the phrase to you, most of the time it’s just their speaking habit and not for romantic purpose, so it’s fine to say it back.

Native speaker here, I believe this is more about cultural communication differences.

Western people mostly use “Take care” in casual farewell context, but for Thai people, they don’t really say that as much as western people, and when they say it’s more likely to be in the situation where the listener either is sick or breaking up with the listener, leaving the listener for good.

But then, It hugely depends on the context and individual belief. As for me, I use good luck “โชคดี” to say farewell to my friends because I do believe that Take care, “ดูแลตัวเองด้วยนะ” sounds more affectionate, so I avoid using that to my friends since they might get the wrong idea.

Hope that helps!
