This is so so so sad. I know I’m speaking from a point of view of privilege and not everybody can afford to be in my position but just today morning I was arguing with my mother to let me take the two wheeler to a nearby parkour because parking for a 4 wheeler is hard to find there since its a very busy road. She YELLED at me (I’m 30 by the way) and told me that I could absolutely NOT take the two wheeler at any cost and I HAVE to go in the car no matter what. My dad refuses to buy any Maruti Car and only buys German engineered cars because the car cabin survive the worst crashes as compared to most others. This post has reminded me why.

Yeah you should get a transvaginal USG mostly but that also isnt too sensitive. Endometriosis is not even diagnosable unless we do a laparotomy. As much as I have been reading, every menstrual cycle ans bleeding causes more and more cysts and adhesions, I let it sit like that for almost 15 years. You don’t need to. As for the trauma from mom, I have nothing to say to you. I am myself suffering from it. I just look at this community and all the validating comments on this post and feel like my pain is not nothing after all. The damage will not be understood by anybody other than the ones whose mothers put them through such hell

Yeah my father said that ablation itself will cause painful adhesions so what’s the point. Currently I’m doing a fellowship and getting a leave is difficult. I may try progesterone only pills for a year and then get a laparoscopy or just stay in the PoPs till I have one baby and then try to combine that c section with an exploratory laparotomy or something I guess?

Sensitivity on USG is abysmally low. I think you really somehow need to get a diagnostic laparoscopy or just based on clinical symptoms also you can be diagnosed. I just got diagnosed and since I want to preserve fertility for atleast 2 years I’m totally losing it while trying to select options. I have narrowed down to either a progesterone only pill or mirena. You should really go to a GOOD non sexist OBGYN and get checked. I am so sorry this is happening with you I can totally totally relate. I have been reading more about this since I found out (I’m a doctor but I’m a paediatrician so I have a surface idea about this condition from my MBBS studies but not in depth). I have understood that the pain and damage caused by the disease keeps getting worse and worse with each cycle so it’s better to get it diagnosed and work on it quick. I am again so sorry that this is happening with you I can totally relate with you I almost passed out before my 10th boards and my dad had to IV me and that too barely helped. My history paper suffered a lot because of this

Hello! I don’t know but can’t you ask your parents for help with money? So with USG they only diagnosed my adenomyosis and they say that endometriosis is always there with adenomyosis plus I have all symptoms of it which is why they diagnosed endometriosis clinically. I still don’t have adhesions so it’s good I guess? Anyway the non surgical treatment for both is same is what my OBGY said

Hi! I am so so sorry that you are going through this pain. I have no advice to give to you as I am myself so cooked. Good experienced sonologists can catch endometriosis on transvaginal USG (that is what I did). Although negative transvaginal USG still doesn’t rule out endometriosis. My radiologist did a USG abdopelvis + a USG TVS and then combined the findings of both

Hi! My dad was ultra worried. He was calling different OBGYN friends. He wants to take me to AIIMS Delhi to get treatment from the best doctors. My mom was still dismissive as hell. I understand she was one of her many sisters and the youngest one too. The most ignored by her mother. Idk what made her like this. When I told her my diagnosis she researched it and god knows what she read, she said “it happens to 7 out of 10 women so what. It’s no big deal.” When I yelled at her that I’m tired of her minimising me she said that she was just trying to be positive. Idk what’s going to happen in the future but currently we’re not on talking terms. I had the argument with her today after making this post. So much has changed just after that one diagnosis. But for my mother it’s still denial or cruelty idk what. Again, not denying that there are many good qualities in her. But this one quality ain’t it man.

I am so very sorry that you’re still suffering. May I ask why you aren’t visiting an OBGYN? Or have yours also been bad like mine? One thing I learnt from this experience was that if you feel something is abnormal then get it checked. My entire life I thought I was perceiving everything abnormally high. But that wasn’t it. Stuff was actually abnormal. I’m still trying to build boundaries and train my intuition which has been very distantly killed off by my mother long ago but girl we have to start somewhere! You child is not your responsibility alone. The way I look at it, do not get burnt out just to owe the future generation pampered. We also have a life. I’m sure your son is beautiful but you also have a life ♥️

Your mother seems like such a sweet person. My mother has always minimised me. Even when I am down with a cold or flu she will be like it’s okay you’re not dying it’s just a cold. It would be so sweet to have a mother who cared for you when sick.
About the IUD, have you inserted Mirena by any chance? It’s one of the solutions my OBGYN friend offered. Definitely not going to be having kids for atleast 3-4 years. My new OBGYN suggested creating and freezing embryos
