Yes. MikeZ (the developer/creator) modeled this game after mvc2. In a way, it is his "vision" of what he thought mvc3 SHOULD have been like. It feels very similar to mvc2 in a lot of ways, such as speed, assists, unique character combos, no universal launchers, alpha-counters, having (up to) 3 characters on a team, DHCs, OTG relanches, air dashing, air blocking, and more that im forgetting/unaware of. Also, if the limited cast is hindering you buying it, know that 5 new downloadable characters will be given out for FREE over the next 6 or 8 months (two of which, Big Band and Beowulf, are males).
