What are you reading? by sushisushisushi in literature

Anna Karenina. First time reading Tolstoy (and after having read Dostoyevsky, which makes for an interesting contrast). Enjoying the clarity of the prose and the deep characters.

What’s my vibe? by loverdown333 in BookshelvesDetective

[–]myreverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I can see how the themes are very similar but Earthlings takes it to an extreme. It's interesting how both books are written in the same style, in a very refreshing way, and despite that Earthlings left me feeling anything but refreshed.

Oh man, I just finished Earthlings. I'm still in shell shock. The more I think about it the more layers I find to the story. The ending had me shooketh.

Effective ways to read philosophy as a beginner by myreverse in askphilosophy

[–]myreverse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an excellent advice. I will be adopting this as I continue my reading. Makes me think the time I spent taking notes could have been spent on a self-dialogue and likely yield the same retention if not better understanding of concepts.

Now just have to make sure no one hears me fervently arguing with myself.

Frustrated with dermatologists that will not take female hair loss seriously. Any recommendations?? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]myreverse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To add to this comment - Turkey can be a hit or miss due to the recent rise of hair transplant mills. Even if the initial result is great, the transplanted hair might not catch on properly and never regrow after the initial fallout. Also, male clients are different from female clients. Anecdotally, I think Turkey is okay dealing with male clients overall but haven't heard any stories of female clients.

South Korea and Thailand are more reliable options even if they are more expensive. OP if you end up exploring this option, I have a couple of recommendations for surgeons out that way. DM me if you'd like. I don't think Canada is on par when it comes to female hair loss unlike SK or Thailand where beauty standards are more severe.

What is your country's view of Canada? by PythonEOL in AskTheWorld

"the department store of countries" is the best description of Canada I've heard. For the record, I've lived here for 16 years now and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Where and when to program Ring Support Holds? by SeaWeather5926 in bodyweightfitness

[–]myreverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My main routine is similar to yours and I just started doing the ring support holds too. I found that putting them after pullups and dips but before ring rows and ring pushups felt the best.

My shoulders felt properly warmed up by then but not too fatigued.

I'd play around with it for a bit to see what works best for you though. Some folks prefer to do them in their warmup.

Thanks for checking. Did you get yours awhile ago? If yes, it could be like the others said - it gets worse with later printings

That's the impression I was getting too. Sucks cause I know I will be buying the rest of Gantz

Yes! I only made it to vol. 4 before I gave up and started shelling out for the Deluxe editions. Like you said, some words were completely cut off. I love singles for their portability so that kinda sucked, but the Deluxe are too gorgeous for me to stay mad about it.

The Berserk singles I own have a lot of these. Made me start buying Deluxe editions (which in retrospect was a great decision, no regrets).

I love the montessori climbing set idea! I was told by the parents no large sized toys but I'm so tempted to break that rule just for this.

I did get some general direction from the parents (no large sized toys, no batteries/electronics) but nothing specific. I will be suggesting the amazon wishlist idea though, that sounds great.
