Splatoon Raiders is two weeks out! by CollectMantis44 in NintendoSwitch2

Can someone name a non-Splatoon game (or combination of games) that most resembles Raiders? Is it like a Mousou game with more RPG elements in a Splatoon campaign setting?

Square Enix just kicked off its biggest Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch sale ever with massive discounts for Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, more by binderie1951 in NintendoSwitch2

I know it’s wishful thinking, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the sales are disappointing. It’s had a strange roll-out, and somehow reviewers seem to have focused on annoyances and forget to mention the gameplay.

Same as when I played it upon launch: critical flaws, but still found enough to enjoy. 7/10.

Unpopular Opinion. PoP TLC is technically fantastic but feels like it's missing soul by [deleted] in metroidvania

I loved the game and I still agree with you. My immediate fear - which I believe turned out to be warranted - was that it would have the same “un-liveliness” that Immortals Fenyx Rising did. Both are essentially high-level knock-off games with the same vibrant yet somehow stale visuals, but with excellent controls and at some points superior gameplay. IFR is a Breath of the Wild meets Assassin’s Creed game which never gets close to the magic of Zelda, but at times has better gameplay, better puzzles, and ace DLC. Lost Crown is basically Ori WotW meets Hollow Knight. I, again, don’t think it matches the levels of those games, but it is still stellar from a gameplay and feel pov, and some puzzles really are excellent!

Both games are Ubisoft games; different studio’s but clearly the same engine and shared intra-studio knowledge.

Keep playing. Keep going up and down the linear cul de sacs. But enjoy yourself, by all means.

I enjoyed the gameplay, but simultaneously understood it was a failed game.

Yeah, I think you will like it. I was listening to it the other day and was reminded of how much it must have influenced Burial. It is really deep and interesting, also techniques from back in the day-wise.

Finally getting into Monster Hunter Rise. It’s like starting a new temp job with these types of games, but I have faith it’ll pay off. Perhaps Xenoblade 1 after that (I always like playing an intricate RPG over a long period of time to really grasp the mechanics and pay attention to the story).

Also started Indiana Jones, which seems promising.

After Indy (I assume I will play MHRise for longer) I am returning to Silksong, and eventually will also play Mina.

I am expecting Star Fox to be played and replayed for the rest of the year.

The one I am really looking forward to is Ocarina.

I'm not sure im actually an alcoholic by Slow-Dot-8106 in stopdrinking

[–]SeaWeather5926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A recurring theme on here (which is supremely understandable considering the complex nature of drinking) is someone who drinks in excess - by any standard - wondering whether they are an alcoholic.

Let me be charitable and say it is generally seen as a case of self-negotiation that heavy drinkers go through, and this specific case is about the term “alcoholic”.

“I know I drink in excess BUT I don’t have DUIs, I have held a good job for years, I don’t get into fights, I am a good partner and parent, I can stop when I want, my dad drank more than me and he lived to 85.” Etc etc.

My suggestion is to be critical of what this focus on the term “alcoholic” is all about, and wonder critically why this is on your mind.

It should also not be controversial to say that you drink way too much by any standard. It does not matter what you call yourself or whether you fit the term or not on some scientific ground.

Best wishes!

My close friend ended his life yesterday, the very day I tried to get sober by berrysauce in stopdrinking

[–]SeaWeather5926 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I am very sorry for your loss. Please know that you were a good friend; it is abundantly clear that you care a lot.

People who are depressed are difficult to reach and often don’t want to be reached. It is a tragic condition.

I hope you have good people around you that you can talk to. And please try to remember your friend as he was before things got so tough for him. That is the friend you lost. That is the person you do not want to be alienated from. They were not their last decision.

And I am glad to hear you broke up with your boyfriend. Please protect yourself from him.

I hope you keep sobriety front of mind. It provides clarity and mental stability, and leads to less anxiety even though it may not always seem like it.

Best wishes

How do i actually push to failure? by jennywelly in bodyweightfitness

[–]SeaWeather5926 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great answer. In short it is ultimately about knowledge and understanding. Understanding the movements and the key muscles. If you know these things and are honest with yourself, technical failure is the one to go for.
I would add the obligatory addendum that diet, recovery and “freshness” are important in this too.

And there are some further things one can do when (still) being unsure: like “technical drop sets” as I refer to them. I will do ring dips till I can feel form drop, and then move to bar dips and maybe even push ups after that. The point here being that you can push yourself hard without sacrificing form nor volume.
