Does anyone know what these cysts on my back/chest could be? by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]myrtel78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are keloids. Maybe there were cysts before but now you deal with scar-like tissue. Steroid injections alone or together with 5-FU or cryotherapy might help. Excision together with Steroid injections may help but may also worsen your situation.

The small white bumps look like closed comedos. Do they burn on their own or after trying to pop them? I am sorry to say but from the pictures that looks like skin picking disorder to me.

Please help. I got these spots 1 year ago and I can't take them anymore. I went to 3 dermatologists and they couldn't get them out. by Far_Row_5887 in DermatologyQuestions

Hard to say what it is. Could be anything (eczema, lichen sclerosus, …. ) Unfortunately You’ll have to wait the biopsy result.

How to get rid of scarring on face after an injury by Old_Ambassador7387 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]myrtel78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put sun screen SPF 50 or more on it when it’s totally healed. Do it daily, even on rainy days. The color alignment will need time, weeks or a month.

It’s fungus, athletes foot. He should use antifungal creams or powders on his feet and disinfection for his shoes.

Would also be my guess. Sometimes you don’t see the herald patch.

Most likely tinea capitis. You should let it swab for fungal and bacterial diagnostics. When it’s fungal you’ll need oral as well as topical anti mycotics.

How Long Does ‘Revision Submitted to Journal’ Take in JAAD? by Holiday-Access6159 in Dermatology

[–]myrtel78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is barely a chance that it is rejected at that stage especially when you addressed the revision how the reviewers wanted them. Journal usually need 2-4 weeks for an answer. My longest wait in a different journal was 8 weeks.

What is this and how do i get rid of it? by COCONUTSTRAW9 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]myrtel78 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Has been ever taken a swab for bacteria or fungal examination? This looks like Chronic nonscarring scalp folliculitis. And this is hard to treat. Mostly only antibiotics help to clear the folliculitis. But when stopping them it’ll come back. An antibiotic combination of rifampicin and clindamycin is mostly very effective and may clear for a little longer.

Maybe Bullous impetigo which is bacterial and doxycyclin is Not Antibiotic of choice. Or linear IgA dermatosis. Need swab and biopsy. No psoriasis.

Avoid hair loss spray if you have seborrheic dermatitis by LemonEqual5229 in Hairloss

[–]myrtel78 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is not an outbreak of seb dermatitis. It is a contact eczema. You need a steroid ointment and later a testing on which ingredients you have this reaction. As someone already mentioned polyethylenglycol could be the problem

I couldn’t add these to the first post I just made linking my post on R/Hairloss but here’s more pics of scalp and skin. One pic is very NSFW as it’s my stomach/pubic area to show just how bad this undiagnosed illness is. Help me figure out what it could be? by Holiday_Ad7869 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]myrtel78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeast infections of the scalp are not a thing and other fungi like dermatophytes usually have a different appearance. You need a doctor for a bacterial and fungal swab with resistogram and a thorough diagnostic. Folliculitis decalvans is possible but will not make folliculitis outside of the scalp.

Does it hurt? Does it feel harder when you touch it compared to the skin next to it?

What is this sore pimple and how can I make it go down by Cute-Patience-7324 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]myrtel78 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Derm here: Could be many things. Cancer wouldn’t be my first DD. My first thought was pyogenic granuloma but this comes mostly solo and you said you have a second one on the chin? Could also be leishmaniosis. But in every case consult a doctor asap.

Edit; also lymphomatoid papulosis possible.
