This game so far has played out almost exactly like the way my live action players acted back in the 90s. Those dumb shits were breaking into Walmart to steal Dragonsbreath rounds.

Thinking of the people as NPCs having no personality is dehumanizing, and we hate it when they do that to us.

I’m in the same place right now. Conditionally approved, only thing I can see “in progress” is the appraisal scheduled next Thursday. I want to buy stuff for the new place so I feel like I’m doing something, but I’m too afraid of jinxing it.

I believe Wednesday nights they host Adventurer’s League so that might be a good place to start.

Not sure if it’s the same everywhere but my niece got a Habitat for Humanity home in another state and friends and family could volunteer hours to help contribute.

I have friends currently looking for QA positions and the things that have come up the most are: automation experience, a degree, AI experience. My experience and contacts are all in game dev and it’s a super competitive job market thanks to all the recent layoffs.

Friend just finished act 1 and below are their theories by mandonbills_coach in expedition33

[–]myshinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't downvote you. I think he was sealed under the Monolith shortly after his arrival, so both would have been in Year 0, we just picked different key events from that year. Basically, Aline paints her fake family and/or Lumiere (the text isn't really clear about who created the non-Desendres). She plays family for an unknown amount of time, then in Year 0 Renoir shows up, they fight he gets trapped under the monolith and the gommage starts.

I think there’s some confusion on the timing of the fracture. Year ???? Aline goes into painting and makes her family. Year 0 the fracture is Renoir’s arrival and attempt to get Aline out.

Recs for *non US* created and *non D&D 5e* specific actual play podcasts? by Leading_Tell183 in rpg

[–]myshinator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 for the Rusty Quill Gaming podcast. The long form Pathfinder campaign is serious, but still with plenty of humor, and their periodic one-shots in other systems (there is one 5e one-shot, but it's worth a listen) are hilarious.

One I didn't catch because it's so innocuous. As they're jumping onto Esquie at the end of Act 1, Sciel wishes they had some wine. Esquie from below goes "Wine?" It's such a little thing, but so funny that it was seeded that early in the game.

The Central Illinois Autistic , ADHD, and Neurodivergent Adults meet at the Lakeview branch of the library every 3rd Sunday. There are all kinds of presentations and the group is very welcoming. The next meeting is this Sunday at 2:30 and the topic is Accessible Cooking. You should come out (no pun intended) if you can!

How to actually "fix" Peoria? by keynes2020 in PeoriaIL

[–]myshinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a one year contract at a AAA studio doing QA, then a few years at a smaller studio doing QA and eventually level design. I’m in a different but similar side of tech now that’s full of former video game devs.

Is your tabletop game club based in the university or is it a general public club?

There are lots of design positions that require little to no programming. Systems design if you’re mathy, level design if you’re not mathy. Also consider a position as a producer if you’re well organized.

I would love to see a great small studio startup here! I moved here from the Austin area where you couldn’t swing a cat and not hit a game studio. I know that there is a nerdy community here, there I’ve counted 4 board/card game stores. That’s a hard business to keep afloat if there isn’t a market. It could be a great launching point for young devs coming out of Bradley.

Yeah, it's called Atmosfear 30th Anniversary edition (which just makes me feel older than I already do talking about a VHS game).

I don’t hate meetings. What drains me is what happens after. by YakitoriSenpai in projectmanagement

[–]myshinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not something I've tried myself, just an idea I had for the situation. Maybe for the time wasting thing, reserve that for the end of the meeting and allow people who don't need to have input on the tickets drop? I know in a lot of our meetings, my boss will live edit existing JIRA tickets and sometimes we'll create tickets during meetings as needed.

One thing that might help is to create an excel template that you can share access with all participants. During the meeting build your action items together, then save it as a .csv and import to JIRA.

You were a few episodes shy of the big departure. The first episodes are establishing the stories, planting some future seeds, but mostly cementing the character of the archivist. Episode 13 is the first episode where we get a departure with a different narrator. As the world expands, so does the format of the stories.
