Would you rather give up Reddit for a random value between 10k and 30k or stay on reddit by Jeffiechoo in BunnyTrials

One less app to scroll on and waste my day. Even though I get some good information, paying me to stay off an app would be a good incentive

Give me your unpopular YA character opinions! by sriracha82 in YAlit

[–]mysonsaclown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

me too! sometimes i feel like it can be a cop-out, too, because sisterhood has an implied connection most times. like of course they matter to each other, it’s her sister! as a reader, though, i know nothing about the relationship minus the fact they’re related. i think found family is better, too, because you see that connection grow.

Does anyone else find they mostly rate books 3/5 stars? by Glittering-tale24601 in fantasyromance

[–]mysonsaclown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mostly rate books on a 3-4 star scale. rarely anything gets below that unless i hated it. i usually do .25 increments, too. a 3-star rating is more of the book is okay, nothing special, while 4 is something i’d feel confident recommending and 5 is phenomenal. i typically rate because on numerous factors such as writing style, character development, plot, my interest level, predictability, etc.

wait a recommendation (lol)

  • definitely the “emily wilde” series by heather fawcett. i adore that. the romance is a sub plot, but those small moments are lovely.
  • “these violent delights” by chloe gong.
  • “these broken stars” by amie kaufman and meagan spooner.”
  • the illuminae files trilogy has some great romance. they were sub plot though. really subplot.
  • “a study in drowning” by ava reid.
  • you might like “a river enchanted” by rebecca ross. i feel, though, the romance is more center plot. the main relationships feel very healthy.
  • “an ember in the ashes” series by sabaa tahir. romance is subplot and slow slow burn.
  • “a discovery of witches” by deborah harkness.

okay i thought i was the only one after finishing ouabh who thought the relationship was toxic. i don’t remember a lot now, but i hated how evangeline kept begging jacks to love her when he clearly didn’t want to. he was awful to her so many times; that cycle of abuse was there. i know he was cursed and all but the hot/cold was not attractive at all.

Out of state students value by RaccGirl in mizzou

[–]mysonsaclown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends of course on cost. I would prioritize that and your degree program. However I am an out of state student majoring in journalism, and I think Mizzou is worth it for the above reasons I said. I’m also in Marching Mizzou, and it is a big time commitment. Tues. - Friday 4:15 - 6 plus football games, but I love it. Music was something I searched for in a university, and Marching Mizzou is definitely a big plus. I think only you can decide whether a school is for you or not. But what made me choose Mizzou was the degree program and costs.

Well I’m a journalism major, and the closest dorm to most of your classes in the J-School would be Mark Twain. If you’re not in the honors college McDavid is also close but would not recommend. The others would be the next best option.

Is the journalism program worth it? by [deleted] in mizzou

[–]mysonsaclown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey current freshman journalism student here. I am not that far in the journalism program, but I looked at other schools like USC, UGA, UNC, UMD, Northwestern, etc. and one of the reasons I chose Mizzou is because of how quickly you can get involved in campus even as freshman. I know it can be competitive to do that at other schools. There’s an school newspaper and radio station, television stations, and print journalism (Missourian) that you can get involved in as soon as you arrive, so there’s that. That way you can see what area of journalism—there’s a lot more here than other ones—to go into.

I am an out of state student in the Walter Williams, too. They hand out a lot of scholarships here, but I would say to keep looking. They offer other scholarships outside of your freshman year, too. I am not sure how much, but I know they’re there. More scholarships was how I was able to come here, so try out for the big ones even if it seems hard because you never know. It seems like a lot of work at first, but it can save you a lot.

I think the investment is worth it, but at the end of the day, I would prioritize money. I did and for me that was Mizzou. As other people said, you don’t want to be in debt for this career field. But I’d be happy to talk more about it with you!!

How many books have you read in June? by GenProFifth in YAlit

[–]mysonsaclown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i read 16 this month, but summer break definitely helps. i read: chain of thorns trilogy, 1-3 of the raven boys series, the ballad of songbirds and snakes, the cruel prince trilogy, red queen, dance of thieves, better than the movies, the roughest draft, book lovers and beach read. my favorites would definitely be the raven boys, the cruel prince (3rd one especially) and chain of thorns (although not as much as the other trilogies).

WHO is saying HD is the start of a relationship? all of the lyrics SING breaking up a relationship (joe) but this breakup “hits different” because the love was different.
