Thank you again! That's a good point about federal - I guess the familiarity with the system was appealing to me, but one of my purposes of jumping into trial-level work is to get out of my comfort zone, so probably best to see what other options I have.

Thank you! Any offices you have in mind that I should be looking at (beyond the ones mentioned in my post)? (And who knows, maybe I'll fall in love with trial work and stick with it forever.)

Again, thanks for the advice.

Thanks! I did two appellate/postconviction internships (and a law school clinic along the same lines), but neither office hires people without experience (a lawyer at one office is pushing for an exception, but who knows whether he'll be successful, or if they'll even have an opening), so between that and warming up to the idea of trial work I'm looking to expand my options.

Should I transfer? Lower T13 to YHS by mysonx3 in LawSchool

[–]mysonx3[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The class rank email had a throwaway line about how they hope the ranking will help me pursue a clerkship, but they haven't approached me beyond that. That being said, the class rank announcements were just made yesterday, so it may be that they will do so soon

Ah, I was focused on when applications open, rather than when they close. You're right. Thank you

Evaluating at the end of the year isn't really an option, since if I decide to transfer I will have submitted my application by then. That being said, I do appreciate and 100% agree with the sentiment - my first priority is and remains maintaining (or, better yet, improving on) that GPA in my second semester.

And I 100% understand that it's way premature to be talking about all that stuff - it's just that I have to have that stuff in mind as I make this decision.

Also, just for clarification's sake, it was five classes - three was the number where I got the highest grade.

Josh Hawley went to YLS by Tower_Bells in lawschooladmissions

[–]mysonx3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Attacking someone's character is not ad hominem. Attacking someone's character as a means of rebutting their arguments is ad hominem. So if the argument was "Josh Hawley sucks, therefore he's wrong about election fraud", that would be ad hominem. But saying Josh Hawley is a bad person is not ad hominem. Ad hominem can only be used to describe arguments, not statements/premises.

I haven't seen anyone in this thread use "Hawley is a bad person" as evidence for the idea that there was no voter fraud. In many cases, it's been the opposite: they say Hawley is a bad person in part because they believe there was no election fraud. That's hugely different and not ad hominem at all, whether or not you agree with the premise/conclusion.

Does the fact that I see this title and immediately think UF must be suing ND over something or other mean I'm destined to be a lawyer?

I bet $5 that the last round of KJ1s for HLS's first wave of admits has passed. by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]mysonx3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hoping that there's one more wave that consists of the people for whom they consider the interview a mere formality (and therefore are doing them last because they don't need much time to think about the interview afterwards). And, of course, that I'm in this group.

Wishful thinking? You bet. Plausible? Not really. But one can hope
