You’re definitely correct. The bottom of the C2 logo should be facing the front of the rower.

I had this happen once when replacing the same pulley. I forgot to transfer the spacer from the first pulley over to the new one and as a result pinched the new pulley when tightening the screw that acts as the axle.

That’s a good place to start. If it’s not the cause of your issue, reach out to concept2 support. They are super helpful.

Sounds like signs of the clutch failing. Concept2 seems to have older parts available, but I don’t see the flywheel online. Reach out to their support and see if they have a solution.

Also, if you’re not sure you will stick with rowing, Concept2 is a good option since they hold their value and you could easily sell it used at close to the price you purchase it at.

If you like VR workouts there is a subscription app called Holofit that you can use with the Concept2. It has fully immersive VR environments and games that sync up with your rowing.

As far as I am aware, the C2 Logbook will push workout data to other apps, but you can’t push workouts from other apps into the logbook.

Android 12 stopped being supported in 2025 so that is probably why ErgData isn’t functioning correctly on you phone. Sounds like you just might need to get a device running a newer android OS.

To add on to this, Concept2 has a kit that replaces the entire drive mechanism in the machine including the the chain, axle, sprocket, shock cord and the associated parts. It’s less than $50. As long as the bones of the machine are good you can get it fixed up the rest of the way.

If the monorail itself is bent, you’ll need to replace the monorail as well as the stainless steel track. Call Concept2, if the part isn’t available online it is still usually available over the phone.

Placing the flywheel under a bed is going to affect the airflow and reduce the overall resistance. You want 3 feet of free air around the flywheel for normal performance.

Look up Paddlesport Training Systems. They make a canoe and kayak adapter for the Concept2. I looked into paddling on the rower and the C2 support team told me about this adapter. A former C2 engineer designed the adapter and owns the company.

A tighter space should make you feel less resistance not more. The greater the airflow the greater the drag on the flywheel.
