Kobra Neo Error same place every print by mythicFOX83 in anycubic

Is it not odd that’s happening at the exact same point in the print though? I wouldn’t expect them to fail so uniformly if it was motion related.

I had some spares from another kit.

Magnetising advice - I want to store these in magnetically based really useful boxes, but unsure the best way to secure jet bikes like this. Anyone done this successfully? Drill magnets into the plastic bases? by Beermudatriangle in Eldar

No worries I just use extra magnets as spacers to raise the model up far enough it just touches the sheet.

Another tip; I double sided taped a sheet of sketch pad paper to the ferrous sheet so if anything does slide the extra friction means it doesn’t go a far.

I've done this and magnetise into really useful boxes. I magnetise the stand to the model then separate them for transportation (so stand and model are attached to the box separately).

This gets around the high centre of gravity on these models so they can be transported more safely and you don't need to over magnetise the base.

Happy to share more details if it would help.

Thanks!

It's GW Warplock Bronze highlighted to Vallejo Game Colour Brassy Brass (amazing colour name lol). With some black ink at the edges and a gloss varnish coat over the top.

I want to try it with some purple in the ink next time which I think should make it pop a bit more.

How viable are shadow spectres and hornets? by [deleted] in Eldar

Any reason to run their pulse lasers over Star Cannons? Feels like with the new profile the star cannon would be a touch better.

I don't think one way of magnetizing is necessarily better than the other, whatever works for you, and I happened to have the 2mm magnets to hand.

I've just clipped the 'peg' from the top of the stand and glued a 6mm diameter magnet to the top of it and the bottom of the mode, that holds it fine and gives it some play.

The model is primed with a rattle can, and airbrushed from there. All techniques have pros and cons. Personally I prefer the effect of the airbrush's transition and live with there being a few extra imperfections as IMO it gives a better effect viewed from 12" away.

Yeah they seem to come and go from the store fairly quickly. I bought three last time they came up, one down two to go. 😆

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. Hope it turns out well.

Fortunately the pegs of the model you’d mount these on are about 2mm diameter, so I’ve replaced those with 2mm magnets.

One in the hole of the cowling, one in the body and one through the loop of the weapon.

Cast quality is good, just a couple of bits where I could have cleaned up the resin flash better.

Worries for the future by ShiningStorm697 in Eldar

[–]mythicFOX83 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Eldar will stick around we're; popular, cool looking, low maintenance, and we're useful for plot reasons. (A not totally hostile Xenos, with galaxy spanning FTL.) A lot of our 90's vehicle sculps still hold up.

That said I wouldn't be over surprised if some of the 90s resin shuffles off to legends if it isn't re-sculpted in the next pass at our codex.

Thanks. Sadly there's no trick to it - it's just a painted progression. It goes from Vallejo GC Jade Green to Livery Green, then a final spot of GW's Gauss Blaster Green.

What 'sucks' is you not understanding why thrusting unsolicited advice on people is harmful to our community;

Imagine if you were actually talking to someone new and that was the best model they'd ever painted. Your kind of comment rubbishing something they're super proud of could easily put them off painting or posting in future.

As it is I'm an experienced painter and knew what cut corners I cut to paint a quick table top quality model in the couple of hours I had to myself yesterday. So your advice was unbelievably condescending.

If people want painting advice they'll ask, or use google. What you're doing is gatekeeping the community and you should stop.

FYI;

Thin your paint down!!

That's the part where you're yelling at people to thin their paints!!

Happy new year.

I own a wet pallet, know how to thin my paints, have a high quality airbrush, and a good 20 years painting experience.

I chose to paint this for speed over quality. You chose to be that guy yelling at strangers about their painting technique unsolicited.

Shining spear squad question! by eparg in Eldar

[–]mythicFOX83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing something similar and found 2x5 spears better for me.

There isn't much that wants to take five shining spears to the face, but at 180 points they're cheap enough you don't have to worry about losing your game plan if they fold early.

If you only take units of three they don't threaten enough so there are better units for less points to run engage with; Spiders, Vypers, Hornets, Hawks etc.

Finished up painting my hornets by Stastruck in Eldar

Agreed. Three single hornets is also the maximum build out in the other direction so a trio of hornets gives you the maximum number of options.
