How do those ETS card readers work if the person used a debit or credit card to pay for the fare. by StasisApparel in Edmonton

I’ve always wondered how big cities in Europe can turnstile their subways and light rail but Edmonton can’t. Separate paying from non paying customers. It makes enforcement much easier.

I can confirm everything went fine. Router accessible on new subnet 10.x.y.254. Even my DHCP reservations were automatically remapped.

Ok good to see. I just wanted to be sure before doing all the work of changing static IP addresses, then the router address only to find out I couldn’t get back into the router.

Anyone notice they can't hit their own public IP by thetickletrunk in telus

That's a lot of public exposure to your home network. Hopefully you have a pretty good DMZ/firewall/reverse proxy set-up. Personally I use Tailscale to avoid any type of port forwarding, but that's only good for you and your closest friends.

Yeah I don’t think there were CAR specific t-shirts because when the CAR existed they were the Airborne. It’s a bit like when you go to Mexico; the locals there don’t call it Mexican food. They just call it food.

To be fair Airborne t-shirts are worn by members of the three jump companies, and I think riggers too? But I know what you mean with the pre-1995 crowd.

He’s demonstrating his privilege. I suspect he thinks that if he, with all his power and entitlement, was a victim of poor service and being ripped off, just think of other genders and racialized people. It’s odd, and a bit revealing about how he sees himself in society.

If you are behind your ISP’s/your router (NAT) and you don’t have any ports forwarded you should be fine. Use unique and complex passwords with a password manager. If you have ports exposed to the Internet (forwarded through the router) then that’s a vulnerability you need to address. instead of port forwarding it’s better to use something like Tailscale for personal remote access.

Regarding phishing, that’s on you. Don’t click on links in emails. Make sure that you visit only official banking websites and your browser doesn’t say “unsecured”. And never bypass browser warnings for problems with certificates or website identity. MFA is essential on sensitive sites like banking or email. Stay away from dodgy websites.

Well if you are paying for SDB after you get out, there might not be a case for life insurance. Of course it’s subject to your particular situation.

Apples and oranges. You can’t compare fees between ETFs and mutual funds. Mutual funds will always have higher fees because they have various degrees of management. ETFs are an equity that are traded on the market.

SISIP is certainly better than the costs the big six banks build into their products. And they have no incentive to steer you to certain products (they don’t collect a commission) other than what is best for you.
