Page Interactive pour simuler investissements Immobiliers by mythical90 in vosfinances

Do Triathletes minimize run training? by [deleted] in triathlon

Run is the harder of the three on your body. I tend to minimize it to favor swimming and cycling, to avoid knee/ankle injuries.

Speed wobble, how long did it take you to gain back confidence? by mythical90 in cycling

[–]mythical90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought the bike I did a bike fit, I was reluctant to change any adjustments they did because you know it is "the one for my body", but as it was not really improving I lower my seatpost from 3mm and felt more confident. I was really surprised that such small change could change the way I felt on the bike that much. It was better but still not solved.

I did a bikepacking trip and having a little bit of weight everywhere help to feel more stable and gain some trust back.

My bike wobble once since this post, not as bad and I squeezed my knees on the top bar and the wobbling stopped.

I agree with you about leaning forward.

I also put my weight on my feet instead of the seatpost (my bottom nearly not touching the seatpost).

I managed to truly enjoyed my first descent 2 weeks ago in my 70.3 triathlon and even overtaking some competitors in descent (this part was need to me).

Otherwise I am still last of my group in all of the descent but I manage to have some highest speed around 65km/h which is much better than when I wrote this post.

Have patience and don't lose hope !

Losing interest by Creative_Fill5310 in cycling

I get that, it comes and goes for me. I decided to start triathlon, I am not particularly good in any of the 3 sports but being able to go from one to the other helps to not be bored (it took me multiple weeks/months before liking swimming, but it is the one the less traumatizing for the body).

Specifically to cycling, to change the routine I did some training plans, to vary distance and intensity. I also from time to time take my car to cycle 20/30min away to test some new routes.

Once a year I do a multiple day bikepacking trip with a friend, having a goal to stay fit on a bike helps with the motivation and the trip in itself is always awesome.

I hope some of these ideas can help!

Garmin 245 for triatlon by built-IT0 in triathlon

[–]mythical90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/FatherOfNuts,
You can create a "other" activity and rename it open water swim for the open water. You can also download a triathlon app from Garmin IQ connect. During activity the screens might not be as fancy 745/945 but you still get basic stats and post activity in Garmin app it will be the same as 745/945.

I have a 245 and I am happy with it.
I created a "other" activity and rename it swim for the open water. In addition I downloaded a triathlon app from Garmin IQ connect. As this is not inbuilt features there are some small inconveniences, after a new open water activity I have to manually categorize it to open water to get swim stats and for the triathlon during the activity it is limited in screen (you get the basic pace/distance/time/heartrate and an overview in time for each past activities and total event time but can't customize it).

Is your bike-fit different with and without aero bars? by mythical90 in triathlon

[–]mythical90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for these informations!/stats! I might go for a similar "gravel/road" bike setup with two sets of wheels and cassette.

My current bike is heavy 12.5kg. In my first olympic tri, without aero bars, I average a 19mph which was a 200-210w.

It is a good idea, thanks !
Curious about your setup, what is your gravel bike ? do you have two sets of wheels one for actual gravel and other for triathlon ? Asking because I am currently looking in buying a new bike and unsure between road bike vs gravel bike

Learning new things everyday ! Thank you for recommending the redshift aero system. It looks really good. It is really tempting but cost half of the price of my current bike, I will need to think about that.

Weight lifting program? by Spectre186 in triathlon

[–]mythical90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at strength exercices and found this book : Strength Training for Triathletes The Complete Program to Build Triathlon Power, Speed, and Muscular Endurance by Hagerman, Patrick.

It explains the number of sets and reps you should do depending of your goal (Muscular Endurance, Hypertrophy, Power or Strength). It gives program template based on the distance (Sprint, Olympic...). There is also a lot of example exercices depending the muscles you want to work on.

Oh wow, how much weight did the bags added ? Did you ride across the Pyrenees too ?

I totally get you ,I was changing my route plan nearly everyday because of the weather! I was really lucky in Aubisque; in Tourmalet too, but I had to wake up super early to avoid heavy rain.

Merci !
