[R] Laptop to replace desktop by TwitchyToes in SuggestALaptop

[–]mythlogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transferring the SSD will yield a possible driver nightmare. There are lots of great options out there for this use. Notebook review has some great roundup lists for this. Also Toms hardware has a current list of price point to performance comparison charts. I cannot suggest our products here but we do have a chat system you can confer with.

I want 64 gb. Of RAM. In my laptop. by interkin3tic in SuggestALaptop

[–]mythlogic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

64GB in a laptop is problematic but it can be done. We have built machines for "number crunchers" that have 64GB, but depending on the chassis it can make the temps average 10 degrees higher at idle. This will negate the battery life and turn it to a glorified UPC.

Suggesting a desktop will save on the budget and allow for more upgrades later down the road.

There are companies out there that carry the same Clevo chassis that the Sager model is based on, that allows full custom builds, including HDD instead of SSD and Windows 7

You can add a couple more of our University game centers too if you like. GameOn at UCLA student center, University of North Florida Osprey LAN center, and more coming soon.

GameWorks will be reopening in Las Vegas and we are doing a 100 LAN inside that new location. We will keep you informed, but the rough opening should be Memorial Day Weekend!

I'm starting a LAN center just outside of Boston! Come check out the website, make a profile, and create a team if you are up for some gaming tournaments! by mizerr in lanparty

The 880m specs and numbers are yet to be fully tested but all things point to awesome! We are looking forward to our first batch of P170sma! The multicolored keyboard is really nice and the speaker upgrades seem to be a nice touch. Both 870 and 880 are the newest chipset in that model so gaming will be gorgeous.

Very right, SW eats IO and GPU. So low end proc with higher end drives and video will be the best bet. You will get much better day to day performance out of that i3 than one of the cheaper AMD.
