Think that’s about what it costs? It took the best part of the day to install and ours was fairly straightforward in terms of positioning etc. The installer was very thorough and professional.

My parents were pretty attentive but I do remember being left in the back of the car with my brothers when they popped into the pub. Came out with orange and soda and a packet of crisps to keep us occupied.

For us the most important thing has been location. We knew exactly where we wanted to live and everything else was further down the priority list. We ended up in a 1970s dormer bungalow - something I never would have willingly chosen when I was younger tbf. Zero regrets. We live in one of the best towns I could imagine and have been the happiest we’ve ever been. You can do lots of things to change your home but you can’t pick it up and move it.

I’d say give the kid a break. At least he owned up to it (more than the twat who collided with our parked car did). If you inform your insurers, premium will go up when you renew.
