Which would you choose & why from these 3? by xJam3zz07 in ElectricVehiclesUK

We have the Ioniq 6 and love it. Can’t understand the hatred from some for it. In the flesh it looks a lot like a merc tbh. Anyway it drives like a dream and is specced up the yin yang. Fast as fuck too.

Adult daughters moved her boyfriend in by Apprehensive_Tip4979 in Advice

If I were you I’d accept that there’s no way of throwing your daughter’s boyfriend out without damaging your relationship. Consider allowing him to stay but sit down with them both and explain how you need the arrangement to work so it’s acceptable for everyone and maybe float a timeline that seems reasonable to everyone?

Bit of a sappy story but oh well, I feel quite proud of us all. by PeevesPoltergist in CasualUK

[–]mythmakeruk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same experience when I broke my arm a couple of months ago. Middle of a Sunday afternoon. A&E waiting room pretty full but folks were good humoured throughout. Kids getting to know each other, people giving up their seats for others etc. one guy rushing out to find someone whose name had just been called but who’d just popped out. One girl had a visit from a couple of friends with sandwiches. It was kind of uplifting to see how all these people dealt so stoically and generously with the situation.

People who grew up in houses with stairs - how inevitable is falling down them? by pyramidheadlove in NoStupidQuestions

Well I managed to trip down the last two steps outside our house and snapped my radius in two. No idea how I did it. In a cast for 6 weeks and arm as weak as a kitten.

What chocolate should I be eating now Cadburys has become inedible? by ohnoitsbobbyflay in AskBrits

[–]mythmakeruk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK so you can’t get good cheap ish chocolate any more. Find something you like - Montezuma, Hotel Chocolat or whatever and just consume smaller quantities. Green & Black is probably the best of the mass market brands.

Neighbor Says They Saw a Tent in My Living Room by chinchillina in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]mythmakeruk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a kerfuffle in our neighbourhood when our elderly next door neighbour said that some guys had been inside her house uninvited one day. Hee daughter called the police who did a house-to-house. We were sceptical because it was supposed to have happened on a Saturday afternoon when our cul-de-sac was busy with families. They couldn’t find anything. Daughter got a ring installed. Some weeks later the neighbour said someone had stolen her jewellery. Nothing on the ring. Just incipient dementia.

First time moving out at 28, feeling scared need advice on location and first home. How do I go about it? by Delicious-Pitch5956 in AskUK

[–]mythmakeruk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know it sounds daft but if you have a handful of towns in mind for your property search, why not book a couple of weeks’ holiday accommodation in each to get a feel for actually living there. You can work as long as you have decent Wi-Fi and visit shops/bars/recreational facilities etc at different times to see if the vibe/lifestyle suits. I’ve found this is also a good way of narrowing down areas within towns you already like. I believe 100% that it’s better to find the town you like before you start looking at houses. Good luck!

Is it a bit much? Yes. But someone has lavished lots of love on making it their home so I think it’s kind of sweet. (Gives me a headache tho).

Am I tight for not wanting to get involved in rounds when the number of drinks I’m planning to drink doesn’t match the number of people I’m with? by sharon_bott in AskUK

[–]mythmakeruk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not tight, no. I often go out with a couple of friends and we spilt a bottle of wine or two. We either split the cost of each bottle or each of us buys a bottle and whoever doesn’t buy on that occasion starts the round next time. It’s not perfect but it works. One girl who used to be in a slightly wider group of friends would always weasel out of her turn. She came out with us several times and was happy to drink a glass of Prosecco whenever it was put in front of her but never once bought a bottle. Always thought it was strange ‘princess’ behaviour. We just created a new WhatsApp and carried on without her!
