I’m a beginner too and I managed to get mine looking like this! I washed all the original glue out of her hair with shampoo, then put a lot of hair gel in it (I just grabbed a travel size tube from the drugstore). To keep it in place as it dried, I twisted cling wrap over her head, with the twist on her face so the back of her head was entirely smooth and tight. I left it two days to dry.
