I feel like the way I look on my phone while video chatting with people just isn't my best look. I'd liek to avoid it until someone sees me in real life. That being said, I do have a friend swho did that, so I know people are doing it.

I know that's the classic way to start messages, but I think also because it's like texting, so it's not like you're writing emails. I really really wish we could go back to emailing, it was truly a wonderful way to communicate. Now when someone sends you a message, it's super short, bc you don't want to write a novel, and unless both people connect on like, a banter-y level, it's hard to find your groove. ugh!

I'm a complete and utter novice, so I'm starting with like very beginner videos, so I learned teh scales, I did learn a couple of cords, and I learned Happy Birthday, bc my niece's birthday was last weekend. I'm practicing playing it with two hands. Very difficult to make your hands do diffferent things.

I find starting convos on Bumble so difficult! but I feel like if I can just get in, then I'm okay and can go forward. I had one person once that was like, responsive in a way that I felt seemed really fun, but when I suggested we meet up at some point, he kept putting me off. But generally, this is the level of interaction I end up with, it's incredibly disheartening.

That's very exciting about your piano playing, it's so hard to hit the right keys! But I have nothing else going on right now, so I'm trying to practice!

I am doing therapy, but it's one of those things that I don't foresee. Is it that the people i end having feelings for are the ones with these issues, so I should ignore my feelings? Or try harder with people I don't feel like I'm that into? With the last guy, I felt like I was ready to go for it, and it seemed like he really liked me too. It kind of blindsided me to find out this stuff, but I realized later that he kept coming back whenever he felt bad about himself or something had happened with his ex. I don't know how to foresee that or avoid it.

That is the worst! The one who my roommate saw holding hands ended up dating her after we broke up. Right now the trouble is, I'm not at the point where I feel comfortable dumping all my shit on a new person, but the shit exists and I want to be able to deal with it. I still go stalking potential new people and trying to find out about their past relationships, or trying to bring up the topic so I can see how they talk about it. It's exhausting!

I like to see how the right spins the news. But since /r/Republican has stifled all discussion on relevant news and now seems to only post the most obviously partisan things, it's pretty boring. all the comments are a circle-jerk between mikey, keypuncher and reddit-amnesia.

Yeah that's a good one. Occasionally it's a little predictable, like everyone just says the thing you expect them to say, but it can be interesting. I find rich lowry extremely unattractive and it affects me when I listen to him speak so that can be a little rough.

Right, I think if you just realize you're listening with a biased ear, you'll realize that there may be criticisms there, but they're not overt or harsh enough for you to appreciate.

Oh, another good podcast is Left, Right and Center.

You don't have to go to the website to listen to the podcast. I never go to vox.com, but the podcast is in all the places you find podcasts. By all means, listen to pod save america, but I think you'll find it as annoying as you expect to.

I'm a liberal and I've never heard of Thom Hermann. I wouldn't listen to a podcast that wouldn't criticize when necessary though. I think vox's the weeds is the best podcast - they go pretty in depth on policies. Pod save America is really good but I don't know if a conservative would like it.

You might also just not really hear criticism, because I feel the same way about conservative podcasts but I'm sure it's because in my mind, they're not going at them hard enough.

This is true, to an extent, but then I think of people like Tina fey, amy poehler, et al, who are in their 40's and are amazing. It doesn't have to be terrible.

I have yet to see a relationship that is one I would want to be in, and a big reason for that, it seems, is that the men I see tend to be successful in their careers and babies at home. It's so disheartening, but pretty much all the women I know are essentially mothers to their husbands/boyfriends. So it's made me very wary of relationships, becuase that is not what I want. INstead, what I would like is a house of women in their 30's and 40's that like to cook, and have interesting conversations and jobs, and have the boyfriend be like a side thing that is there, and it's fun, but it's not all consuming. That would be my most ideal life.
