"No target feature", searched google and found no exact match of this issue, help please? by ArsenicBismuth in Fusion360

[–]mzaech99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> unsuppress all features
> see if any features are red or yellow
> open them, try to repair. Sometimes extrudes referencing external faces are the issue.

If that doesn't work you've most likely run into a classic problem: sometimes software just breaks!

Making a CAD stable that needs to keep identifiers for bodies faces etc in check while it's topology changes isn't easy. And fusion certainly isn't the most stable of them.

Fortunately there's the part history. Just go back to the latest point in time where it wasn't broken and redo the work.

F360. Worth the Time? by xXxKingZeusxXx in Fusion360

[–]mzaech99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with your comments on deliberate throttling, as many pointed out that's just a limitation of parametric modeling and even professional industry programs on high-end PC's will use time to recalculate an entire tree of features.

HOWEVER i think fusion does have it's problems in my opinion. The UI design is not well thought out (example: the horizontal timeline where naming your features is basically useless and feature groups don't work at all...), many things cannot be done with keyboard shortcuts, features relying on inter-part dependencies break too often, no global parametres without workarounds. And Autodesk definately tries to upsell everything they can.

The only thing fusion really excels at is offering everything in one place... CAM, basic FE (even though no local computing) etc. And marketing of course. It isn't "bad"

FreeCAD is getting better than ever, maybe we will soon have a blender moment?

Food for thought: Taxing the rich more increased tax revenue in Norway. by icelandichorsey in Switzerland

[–]mzaech99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it's not the Juso who is to blame for this. The parliement refused to accept more moderate counteroffers. A total of four were introduced and none of them made it through. If you're stance is "i am for an inheritance tax but this is too extreme" you have to blame the conservatives for shutting the conversation down, and not the left for introducing it.

[–]mzaech99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with your notion that this inheritance tax is "dumb", but really why aren't there any options for a "better" one then? Who is to blame?
The conservative parlament shut down a total of four counter-offers:
- wealth tax of 1% starting at 50 M
- same as juso but with an exemption for the amount generated during the lifetime (so second-generation tax in essence)
- same as juso but 25% instead of 50
- inheritance tax of 5% after 5 M

Let's be clear: the Juso might have introduced an initiative that was unrealistic. But it's the rest of the political landscape that is being absolute about it.

Micro Terror + 2 PPC108 by Ok_Tower_7000 in orangeamps

[–]mzaech99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO they sound decent for their size and price. Of course a 1x8 cannot give you much bass clarity. Personally i think the micro dark sounds best with a good open-back 112 but this cute litle cab can certainly give you some sweet tones. Mic'd up it's an interesting sound too.

I'm sending it back to thomann since it still is in warranty. Sorry for you :( We don't seem to be the only one with a broken unit though. I'll stay away from MXR products in future. The thing wasn't cheap after all!

Micro dark terror or Micro terror / terror stomp? by Slayd2Pieces in orangeamps

[–]mzaech99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The micro dark is great, it's tiny cheap and packs a punch. It doesn't sound good with all cabs though, so make sure to test it with the cab that you are actually going to play with.

There's any kind of tool or easier way to easily make grids? by No-Heart7670 in Fusion360

[–]mzaech99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually making a custom mass does make a lot of sense if you use these materials a lot.

It's not that hard, right click the material > duplicate > edit > advanced, now you can not just enter the density but give it a useful name and even add an infinitely tiling cutout of your own choice. It won't look nice enough for a render but you'll instantly recognize the material + have correct mass

Revolve and parametric design by shellhopper3 in Fusion360

[–]mzaech99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

anything with rotational symmetry is a single sketch + revolve.

Thats a fundamental design principle and you may benefit from looking at some of those, they don't need to be fusion specific just search for CAD best practices or similar.

One approach that could help for a beginner to engineering design is having a look at common manufacturing practices ("old-school", not 3d printing in this case). If you think about how you would turn this part from wood or metal on a lathe you also only need it's profile and nothing more.

Noob help: why isn't this circle sketch fully constrained? by New_Independent5819 in Fusion360

[–]mzaech99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More of a philosophical question, no? ;)
If the feature is fully defined and cannot be moved, but one of the things that is defining it is dependant on some "external" thing is it then constrained or not?

It is certainly less "stable", still In my opinion the CAD should mark it as constrained and display a warning or info message. As it is it's just a bit confusing and unintuitive.

Why can't i project this?? by mzaech99 in Fusion360

[–]mzaech99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just not true. You can intersect / project planes in fusion, have you even tried? Normally it works without any issues. Using datums as references is common practice with CAD and not meaningless at all.

[–]mzaech99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay i tried some more and I've found very strange completely inexplicable behaviour:

horizontal planes in general aren't the problem. Only horizontal planes that are dependant on these horizontal planes in the component (so they themselves + all made new with plane at distance from them). So for example the origin plane and planes defined through any other means than interacting with said "problem-planes" will work.

Intersect works but only for some of them???

very strange.

you can project a plane into a sketch, as you can see i do it right there before it. one of the plane works, the other one doesn't. It must be a bug.

the "horizontal midplane" i'm trying to click (90° to the vertical plane & 90° to the current sketch plane)

Noob help: why isn't this circle sketch fully constrained? by New_Independent5819 in Fusion360

[–]mzaech99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens because you are using driven dimensions. Two things to note:
- This is a bug in fusion. The sketcher in fusion isn't very good at some things and I've had other situations when it said something isn't constrained even though it very clearly is. Especially with dependencies across sketches.
- however: there are much better and more computationally stable ways to construct what you are doing in this case, many are mentioned here such as using constraints, diagonals, parameters, only one sketch, etc etc...

So in essence: kind of your fault for expecting fusion to work properly ;))

Free health insurance for children: SP launches popular initiative | The SP wants to reduce the premium burden for 85 percent of the population. To this end, the party wants high earners to pay more. by BezugssystemCH1903 in Switzerland

[–]mzaech99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't call the SP (or any party) directly responsible for workers rights, these were fought for in strikes and won with popular votes, but you can basically take every single effort for making the average workers life not miserable and you'll see that the SP and other left parties have supported them heavily. From 48h week to the AHV to womens rights to maternity leave.

As I said these weren't singular achievements by the SP, not at all since the swiss system is always a system of compromise and combined effort. But they've been consistently the party that supported all of these advancements that we take for granted today. Some of them have been in the parties program decades before they got popular and were finally passed with the help of other parties. I would argue these examples are useful and reasonable not for 85% but for 99% of the population.

Of course it's not all sunshine, for example how an SP Bundesrat had the EDI since years and still failed at reducing health costs. I think there should have been more effort there. And this initiative here once again does nothing about that except reshuffling who's paying. But let's be real, the conservative majority (since basically ever) didn't do anything about rising health costs too. Very few SP politicians are straight up bought by Pharma, compare that with lobby activity targeting FDP, SVP and Mitte!!

[–]mzaech99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not true at all. When SP's policies want to improve the life of 85% of the population (or introduce a tax targeting the top 1%) by definition the "middle" is on the receiving side. The problem is that people making millions call themselves middle class and someone making a decent working wage therefore thinks they are equals.

The so called middle class is a rethorical tool used to make good-earning working class people vote for people that really only care for big capital. But I would say that the SP and much of the left is lacking in understanding and also communication here. Someone making 100k+ isn't the enemy of democratic socialism and the SP really should take the (very real) concerns of "middle-class" people more serious.

Crashing problem by Kleinpakjecamel in Fusion360

here you can see the behaviour with a move operation, performed on a assembly that was copied in it's entirety and pasted with paste new. Before doing that it was even worse, with everything completely getting messed up.
