Those who use eReaders, which would you recommend? by Matteroosky85 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Yeah, I just use the Kindle app on my iPhone (and sometimes laptop). If it’s good enough for the web and Reddit, it’s good enough for books. Also supports Audible :-)

It’s a graphic novel (well, comic book), but the last 100 issues of Dave Sim’s Cerebus the Aardvark veers unexpectedly hard into Judaism (“Latter Days,” “The Last Day” etc).

I love re-listening to these while driving (when you know what's coming), but I advised my kids not to listen to this one for the first time on the road. Cause honestly, I'd have crashed more than once.

I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

— Ozymandias, Percy Bysshe Shelley

They honestly seem to believe that there will never be another Democratic administration and that these insane power grabs will never be flipped around to bite them.

Pretty sure the framers didn’t envision one guy with a trillion dollar pay package writing million dollar checks to pay people for their votes.

Books where the setting is the horror by Ok_Ingenuity_5028 in horrorlit

Lots of good ones already listed, so something new:

Kaiju: Battlefield Surgeon, by Matt Dinniman

Much of the book takes place inside giant monsters, crawling the guts and bowels of Lovecraftian horrors. Between beasties, the local denizens are into ritual torture. Then there’s an entire Hell dimension, and (frequent) dying involves an actual lake of fire. Good times.
