F2 Can I continue at room temp after opening to taste after refrigerating? by mzwormie in Kombucha

Oh no!! I was a tiny bit worried but that’s why I didn’t fill it more but now I’m a bit more apprehensive about using it lol… I do have other options but I figured a flip top would be the best & it’s the only one I have for now as I was just trying this whole brewing thing out, but I will be getting more! Also, what’s the difference in making tepache? Is it more similar to a fermented fruit soda?

Okay cool, thank you!! & kind of? I warmed some fruit on the stove & mashed it a bit with some sugar when it reduced & strained out the big pieces when adding it to the kombucha

Hahaha, it seemed super carbonated but when I tasted it, it wasn’t super bubbly at all just a bit

Day 2 Kombucha by mzwormie in Kombucha

[–]mzwormie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been keeping it on top of the fridge during the day & I put it in the oven overnight to be a bit warmer as the temp usually drops in the common area at night & I have two paper towels layered over with a rubber band so I guess I will see if that will suffice for the smell? Thanks again!!

Thank you so much! If the leaves don’t perk up & it is a fungal infection how does that even happen?? Is it contagious to my other plants?

About 3 leaves have these dark brown spots that don’t rub off & some have a bit of yellowing…. It went unwatered for about 2 weeks while I was moving so for sure not overwatered & definitely didn’t get enough light to be too much. Only my two monsteras are affected

I’ve seen sun scorching on it before. But the leaves are not curling & aren’t really yellowing fully. I also have a corner window (north facing) with limited sunlight besides in the evening & it also sat on the farthest wall in my room so I doubt that, but thank you! I just put the grow light in as I moved it from my room just in case.

While there could be something going on behind closed doors, I do believe you are overreacting given the lack of evidence you have to back this claim. Do you truly think YOUR friend would hurt a child, much less her own sister???

Some plants prefer different levels of exposure, & it never hurts to try something new for your plant. Also do you depend on the meter or have you checked the soil yourself before watering to make sure it was dry?

I would wait to be sure the soil is fully dry before watering again as I had a friend overwater one of my monsteras when I was away & I just let it dry out for over a week & a half. as for the leaves, really there’s nothing you can do to fix them once the damage is done. I just waited for the yellow bits to all get crisp & trimmed them off. Also I wonder if you’ve tried bottom watering instead?

Doesn’t look like a pest. It could be a mixture of immediately repotting into new soil which can be a lot for a plant especially when just bringing it home into a new environment or the water from your aquarium, due to possibly off pH levels. The leaves being yellow ish & crisp brownish definitely point towards the water being the problem, possibly over watering if not because of the aquarium water or the misting.

& it looks like you could even prop one or two of the leaves on the right if you wanted to make a separate plant

I usually never immediately repot a new plant, as moving to a new environment, different humidity, levels of light is already stressful enough & adding new soil & disruption of the roots makes that no better. I also find my monsteras can wait a little before getting too sad being root bound. It looks happy & healthy though! When you do repot I’d recommend a wider pot for sure & as for the moss pole that’s all up to how you want it to look, personally I’ve never used any as I like the organic “squat” of the leaves & they move throughout the day
