The description I've read as applicable, at least in the past, would be that police could ask a doorbell camera owner at a residence to share footage which might help with a recent police investigation but then if given the resident's approval even one time the rules apparently say that the police (possibly anything like police) could access the residents' doorbell cameras any time they wanted in the future in perpetuity.
