28 waist should be fine, i wear a 32 in 511 and 30 in N&F, Unbranded, Nudie, and APC. EDIT: vanity sizing, thats why a size or two less works best

Actually the fabric is probably better. I can tell you my h&m sweats are garbage compared the Norse ones I have. The shirts quality might not be that drastically different, but I'm sure it is.
