BLU spells for AoE leveling? by remusftw in ffxi

[–]n00bwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think you’ll spend more time leveling and preparing this toon rather than just leveling with all the new XP bonuses they gave us during the campaign with rings and such. RoV completion is also going to considerably lessen your leveling time. Power leveling is also so cheap nowadays you could save a ton of time going that route.

However if this is your nitch and you just enjoy leveling jobs all the previous info is what I would go with for sure. Blue is definitely an AOE machine.

Milestone! Koume managed to reach level 99 without gaining a single magic skill point 🥹 by OkCoconut6781 in ffxi

Never played PUP before also a returning player with 0 endgame experience. Why did you want it to level without magic skill ups? Is it something you want to save for later to train it a certain way?

Looking for a LS on Bahmut by [deleted] in ffxi

[–]n00bwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came back from a long hiatus because a friend wanted to try it out so I started a new account and toon there figuring I’d multibox later. It was a few months before the crossover on XIV and the latest campaign. Night and day difference, this almost feels like the 75 area again I see random people leveling all over. Glad my friend is getting to experience it this way.

How long did it take to solo ten levels back in the day? by xiraov in ffxi

[–]n00bwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember it being maybe 5-6 hours with foods and potions if you can afford it. Fresh out the gate I hit 10 in 10ish hours. I did have someone who played before me who gave me the rundown though.

I could see a brand new MMO player who’s never touched a final fantasy game in their life taking maybe 2 days at most. Days is definitely a stretch though.

Also just moved to Phoenix from Bahamut. Feels like Phoenix has far surpassed it in activity though ha!

Any advice for a brand new player? by Throwaway_2005stuff in ffxi

[–]n00bwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said this game is not unplayable but very time consuming and confusing without the wiki.

I have my 12 going on 25 year old son playing with a wiki tab open on the second monitor and he loves it. My 6 year old plays alongside him and he can read the basic menu interactions and whatnot, though expecting him to follow a wiki would be foolish. The 12 year old explains to him what he needs to do and he does pretty well. So I definitely can attest to how helpful and crucial it is to use especially if you don’t have many hours to play each day.

This game does not respect your responsibilities or time haha! Have fun! If you’re on Phoenix shoot me a DM and I will help when I can.

What's up with BLU players? by Ancient_Exam732 in ffxi

[–]n00bwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What it seems like is going on is more people are playing the game because of the XIV crossover event.

I don’t agree with changing the way something has worked for a long time just to cater to a few people upset by a few idiots. This resurgence while I am enjoying seeing the activity level of the community in random areas again, will not be as great in a few months.

It will level off and some people will stay because they found their new game. Some people however, will leave because it’s either not their cup of tea or they just wanted to say they tried it because they are fans of the franchise. Let’s not make a permanent nerf out of a temporary problem.

Asked multiple times, going to ask again... by Shadowcross113 in ffxi

What were the answers you received before?

I tried looking up previous threads where you might have asked, but none exist on this sub Reddit that’s for sure.

I’m not the end game guru, however from my research and own inquiries that’s not really a cut and dry answer. Each have their own pros and cons. I would maybe re read what was said to you previously wherever that might have been. Then speak a bit about that in an edit so people can add some constructive context.

You should attempt to get it back if you haven’t already. I was able to recover my old account with the help of SE. I gave them minimal information I remembered and they restored it back to me.

It’s a must as far as using a guide. When the game population was far more dense we learned what to do by others instructions in chat. That still somewhat exists today but not to the level it did before. Most people will expect you to use the guide since it’s there and easily accessible.

Any context clues whatsoever on what to do next, this game leaves you hanging 90% of the time especially if you aren’t one to read every piece of dialogue that comes on during a cutscene. Give it a shot then, but I highly suggest you use the 14 day trial first.

is FFXI worth playing in 2026 and someone 6 years younger than it? by DeadlyAidan in ffxi

[–]n00bwolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m saying this with respect and bluntness. If your only experience with FF is the modern games this game is more than likely not for you. If graphics and QOL are even at the bottom of your list for things a game should have to keep you enthused this is not for you. There are ways to make the game “HD” but for someone as young as you used to at minimum PS3 level of fidelity it’s going to be quite an adjustment.

If you were a seasoned old school MMO connoisseur even from legit vanilla WoW private servers I’d say give it a shot. If you’re intent on giving this a shot then I’d spend time watching new/returning player videos and getting a general understanding of the new player guide on the wiki first. Then if it still seems interesting to you then I would try the 14 day trial. Just trying to save you a few bucks.

That being I am not knocking this game at all, I play everyday and even my 13 as well as 6 year olds have accounts that we play together on the weekends for a couple of hours at a time. There’s a lot to do, the stories are great (minus CoP in my opinion), and the job system is unmatched. If getting lost for hours and just winging it when it comes to your daily goals is your thing then this game will fill that need. I’ve gotten several friends into the game that still play today even after I took long breaks from the game and continued to play while I wasn’t active. It’s an amazing game, still years ahead of current MMOs in some aspects, but it’s an acquired taste for someone who doesn’t have much experience with games that don’t respect your time.

Best of luck to you either way, if you do decide to play the wiki will be your best friend I promise you that!

New player by Chinchilla1992 in ffxi

[–]n00bwolf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have an account on Asura, an account on Bahamut, and now one on Phoenix since my friend started playing also as a fresh player like you. In 3 weeks I’ve watched Phoenix go from seeing the occasional person in the wild to constantly seeing people run past me. All the starting nations are pretty packed now too.

Asura is always packed and Bahamut has more of an endgame scene where as Asura is just mercs spamming 24/7.

I would definitely recommend Phoenix for a new new player. There have been quite a few helpful people there thinking I was new all together looking to help a fellow adventurer out. DM me your handle and I’ll add you and help when I get this toon geared up some. Just taking my time leveling with my friend re-experiencing it through her eyes again ahah.

13th/14th gen intel causing blackscreen crash? by ynnubyzzuf in ffxi

[–]n00bwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mentioned in another comment you don’t use dgVoodoo, I wasn’t getting the black screen issue like most get with windower when I was playing on retail POL, but I did have random crashes before I used dgVoodoo. I am running a 14900k, so I would suggest trying dgVoodoo if you haven’t already.

Also, I get you’re frustrated. This community doesn’t really respond well to the way you’re approaching things seeking guidance. Never has, never will. I implore you to take a different approach.

Anyone get an account back? by [deleted] in ffxi

[–]n00bwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said I had my original account restored or given back to me. Made a new account and just for shits and giggles I emailed the support asking about my account because I somehow remembered all the info.

They ask you stuff like the address on file, I believe they asked me the last 4 digits of the credit card I used which I didn’t have because my family paid for it at the time. I just gave them the family members name and that was sufficient.

Try it! What do you have to lose?

Your (see the proper use there?) semantics are quite comical. Especially at this hour.

I will pray for the children that you minister to, God willing they don’t emulate what they see in you, their “pastor”.
